About the Job
Under the direction of the Community Programs Director, the Youth Sports Lead is responsible for the supervision, operation, development and implementation of dynamic out of school time programs for elementary aged youth at the Marin YMCA. Planning, training, and supervising youth sports enrichments in afterschool program and branch wide youth sports program. Highly collaborative, the Youth Sports Lead builds and maintains strong and productive relationships with and among youth, families, Marin YMCA staff, partner organizations and community members of Marin YMCA. They should be adept at working in a fast-paced environment and thinking fast on their feet.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years or older
- High School Diploma
- 1+ year experience working with youth in an organized setting
- Previous supervision experience
- A commitment to providing young people with the highest-quality youth development experience
- Must be knowledgeable about youth development program design and planning, administration and evaluation, child abuse reporting laws, After School standards, as well as knowledge and awareness of a wide variety of out of school activities
- Must be a talented multi-tasker and an independent worker who is adept at working on a team, thrives in a start-up environment and maintains a flexible and positive attitude
- Experience working with elementary aged youth in sports
- Excellent organizational skills and multi-project/multi-task oriented, including experience scheduling and coordinating multiple fun and education-focused activities for youth.
- Team player with proven ability to work with people from a variety of different ethnic, socio economic, educational, religious, sexual and generational backgrounds.
- Fingerprint background check clearance
- TB Test Clearance
- Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (can complete upon hire)
- Proof of COVID Vaccination is required
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of organized youth sports coaching experience
- 3+ years or more working with youth in an organized setting and 2+ years of proven staff development, supervision and training
- A commitment to providing young people with the highest quality youth development experience
- Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred
- Experience with restorative practices and de-escalation strategies
