About the Job
The Outdoor Recreation Specialist position is responsible for creating and leading enrichment classes daily in recreation and sports for Summer Day Camps. Programming must be intentional, follow YMCA curriculum guidelines, and be based on Youth Development Principles. The Outdoor Rec Specialist will also support our Camp Units during camp assembly and structure outdoor time along with the Camp Leaders.
Minimum Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Available Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-6:00 pm (hours/shifts may vary)
- At least 1 year experience working with youth
- Be a team player and comfortable working alongside 5 or more fellow staff
- Highly motivated to provide quality enrichment opportunities for youth
- Must be comfortable leading physical activities with youth
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- CPR & First Aid certified (may complete upon hire)
- Fingerprint background check clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese
- Knowledge or expertise in recreation and/or sports
