About the Job
The Lifeguard Coordinator monitors the quality of safety, programming, member retention and customer satisfaction of the Aquatics Department so that it will be an Association Leader in all areas. This person in this position is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Director in supervising the lifeguard staff; facility operations; coordinating the program and operation schedules of the pool; timecards; overseeing lifeguard staff training and ensuring certifications are up-to-date and accurate, and ensuring safe operations according to our policies and standards. The Lifeguard Coordinator will also assist the Aquatics Director as needed in work needed to lead and develop the branch’s aquatics programs and staff affiliated with those programs—as well as stepping in when needed. The Lifeguard Coordinator will spend 20 hours per week in direct service and 20 hours per week in an administrative capacity.
Salary Range: $28.00 to $33.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- 18 years old
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must be available weekends and some mornings or evenings
- 1-year lifeguarding experience
- 1-year supervisory experience
- Effective leadership and communication skills
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent*
- YMCA Lifeguard Instructor*
*YMCA will provide trainings upon hire if not already certified
Preferred Qualifications
- 21+ years old
- College Degree
- 2+ years lifeguarding experience. Experience leading teams.
- Bilingual skills English and Spanish
