About the Job
The Aquatics Workforce Internship offers leadership opportunities for teens, equipping them with valuable experience, fostering peer relationships, and supporting the community-focused initiatives of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco. Through this internship, participants will develop workforce and lifeguard skills, as well as gain job placement opportunities.
Throughout the semester, interns will acquire the technical expertise required for potential employment within the aquatics departments of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco or external organizations. Additionally, interns will participate in skill-building workshops, job shadowing, field trips, seminars, and mentorship programs. These experiences are designed to empower youth to become self-sufficient, confident, innovative, and collaborative leaders in the workplace.
Completion of the internship maybe a prerequisite for employment opportunities at the YMCA of Greater San Francisco and external partners.
Location:
- Mondays and Wednesdays at Stonestown YMCA
- Saturdays at various branches of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco
Salary Range: $21.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 16 years old (must provide work permit if under 18)
- Currently resides in San Francisco or high school student enrolled in SFUSD
- Background check clearance if 18+
- Must be available Monday and Wednesday afternoons and alternating Saturdays
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Be comfortable being in/around water
- Ability to work effectively with members, staff, and volunteers
