About the Job
Under the direction of the Community Kitchen Coordinator, this new position will serve as the center of our new Community Kitchen program. The new program will provide our neighborhood with a space to cook and share a meal together again, something which provides great comfort and joy to the community. This position will help us directly address food insecurity in Chinatown by supporting our weekly SRO dinner program serving 60 families a week. This position will collaborate with other kitchen staff on designing menu, meal planning, food preparation, and meal distribution.
Salary range: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- Flexible availability; 4-8 hours/week; late afternoons and evenings; weekdays and Saturdays
- Experienced in food preparation
- Chinese language skills (Cantonese or Mandarin)
- Must have skills in leadership development, planning, time management, communication, and staff supervision
- Must have experience working with youth
- Must be self-motivated, proactive, reliable, detail oriented, and highly organized
- California Food Handler certification (may complete upon hire)
- Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (may complete upon hire)
- Fingerprint background check clearance
- TB Test clearance
