About the Job

YMCA Camp Jones Gulch is seeking Cabin Leaders to work summer resident camp programs from June 6th - August 8th, 2024. Cabin Leaders can expect to be hired as early as May 1, 2024 to complete new hire training ahead of the start of resident camp programs. Camp Jones Gulch is located at 11000 Pescadero Creek Rd, La Honda, CA 94020.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Cabin Leader will be responsible for engaging youth in activities in a fun and safe manner. Responsibilities will include living in cabin with campers and taking them to their scheduled activities, providing games, hikes, and other activities during non-scheduled times, and providing general supervision of campers. Cabin Leaders will also run specialized program sites such as Climbing Tower, Zip Line, Archery, Waterfront areas, Canoes, Hikes, Gardening, and Arts & Crafts for campers and User Groups. Meals and boarding for the duration of the summer camp program are included.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 18 years old or older
  • Experience working with youth
  • Creativity and interest in a variety of subjects, i.e. arts & culture, health & fitness, etc.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of ages, ethnic groups, and backgrounds
  • Ability to supervise young people
  • Must always be respectful and professional
  • Willingness to learn conflict mediation skills, first aid techniques, and other skills
  • Fingerprint background check clearance.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (may complete upon hire)
