Careers with a Cause
The YMCA of San Francisco mission: To build healthy, sustainable, and equitable communities for all generations is squarely grounded in our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization. To fulfill this promise, the Y requires strong cause-driven leadership to effect lasting personal and social change in our organization’s three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This means our leaders are committed to building strong communities; where you can be, belong, and become.
About the Job
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Operations at the Youth Service Bureaus, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing several functions including managing the YSB facilities and daily operations. These services among others are provided in person and remotely including at least 3 days a week working on-site and 1-2 day working remotely.
This position requires the ability to prioritize, learn quickly, problem-solve, work in a fast-paced and busy environment, organization, and work well in a team. Many of our clients are experiencing very difficult hardships, especially those impacted by COVID-19, administrative assistants must assist with a trauma-informed and client-centered approach even if most of their duties are not directly with clients. Because this organization is providing services during a uniquely difficult time for the community and the team, it is necessary to practice self-care and stress management.
With the help of a local consulting agency, our team of community leaders and staff have made accountability and affinity work central to our purpose and believe that the only way forward in building a better workplace reflects the vision of change we want to see in the larger community in working towards racial equity and extricating ourselves from the tenets of historical white supremacy woven into all corners of our economic culture.
