About the Job
YMCA Youth Basketball League (YBL) Coach will foster community through coaching youth basketball teams and refereeing games. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, interactive, structured, and well-supervised environment during sports coaching and instruction. This role will need to be available during some after school hours to coach their assigned teams and on the weekends during their teams’ games. Additionally, this role may scheduled to referee on game days. Individuals hired for this position will work under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire YBL season from January 6th. 2024 to March 17th, 2024.
Salary Range: $19 to $22 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Must be highly motivated to provide quality youth sports experiences
- Must be a team player
- Experience refereeing and coaching youth sports
- Must be available some afterschool hours
- Must be available on weekends for games
- Current YMCA approved CPR and 1st Aid certification (can complete upon hire)
- Fingerprint background check clearance
- TB Test clearance
- Must be willing to participate in evaluations and supervision meetings as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise of youth basketball
- Bi-Lingual skills in English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, English/Mandarin strongly preferred
