About the Job
Under the supervision of the YBike Associate Director, this position is responsible for working the full variety of bicycle camps the YBike Program offers to Y Camp participants, including leading both road and mountain bike camps; helping with YBike operations including bike maintenance; and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the bike room. All programs must be administered in a manner consistent with YMCA goals and policies. Note: the number of weeks assigned is contingent upon camp enrollment and dates the camp is in session.
Must be available to attend YMCA of SF’s camp training on Saturday, May 18, 2024
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 18 years old
- Ability to ride a bike
- Physical ability to lead and participate in active sports and games with children, monitor behavior requiring physical separation, and assist with management and distribution of equipment
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend and walk for extended periods of time and to lift 30 pounds
- Ability to adequately observe participants in activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate management techniques
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- YMCA approved basic First Aid and CPR/AED certification (training provided by YMCA, if necessary)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Some bike mechanics experience and ability to repair bikes
- Experience in risk management and emergency response
- Experience working in youth programs or bike education programs
