About the Job
The Inclusion Support Facilitator is responsible for creating a positive environment in the YMCA Power Scholars Academy and/or Summer Camp programs using restorative practices and proactive behavior support systems. This is a temporary full-time position working primarily as a behavior coach to facilitate inclusive best practices or students with special needs, Individual Education Plans, and those in need of behavior modifications. This staff provides support to Power Scholars Academy and/or Summer Camp program staff to strategize and develop plans which ensures successful student participation during program hours. The Inclusion Support Facilitator will work directly with students to provide supervision and support. Additionally, this staff will work in coordination with the site leadership to improve program climate, facilitate groups, and coordinate behavior modification alignment for students.
Minimum Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- At Least 2 Years of college (48 units), AA degree or equivalent, or a Pass on After School For All-Excel Qualification Exam (No Child Left Behind- NCLB)
- Must be highly motivated to provide quality summer opportunities to youth
- Knowledge or expertise in youth development and positive behavior management strategies
- Must be comfortable leading physical activities with youth
- Must be available daily Monday through Friday during summer program hours (8:30 am-5:00 pm, shifts may vary)
- Must be willing to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as needed
- YMCA-approved CPR/First Aid certification
- Fingerprint and background clearance
- TB Test clearance prior to working with youth
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of experience working with elementary or middle school youth
- Specialized knowledge of Arts, Dance, Drama, or Sports
- Bi-lingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, or other languages
- Connections in the local community
