About the Job

Urban Services YMCA is the social services branch of the YMCA of San Francisco. Our mission is to provide holistic and comprehensive programs that support health, wellness and self-efficacy in youth, families, and communities by providing an anti-poverty approach. Urban Services YMCA's programs recognize and re-affirm individual’s strengths and encourage meaningful and collaborative participation in program creation and delivery.

The Youth Service Bureaus (YSB) are the community mental health arm of Urban Services YMCA, specializing in counseling for youth and families, crisis intervention, prevention programs for at-risk youth, parent education and support, truancy prevention, and community resources linkage services. Under the supervision of the YSB Clinical Director, this position is responsible for providing counseling services, including providing assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention and case management with youth and their families throughout the San Francisco Unified School District and other San Francisco locations. The School Based Clinician will travel between school sites and community base settings to provide therapy services. This position is responsible for performing therapy in a manner that is consistent with the legal and ethical standards set by the professional field and the YMCA of San Francisco’s mission. 

Clinicians work side-by-side with school staff to provide mental health support to the students. Clinicians conduct mental health and safety assessments, provide referrals for services and intervention, and facilitate life skills groups. 

Salary range: $30.00 to $39.00 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters or Doctorate in Psychology, Social Work or related field
  • Willingness to travel throughout San Francisco County; in person 
  • 1+ years of experience providing counseling to ethnically/racially and socioeconomically diverse youth and families
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Valid CA Driver’s license, working car, and ability to pass Livescan and TB clearance is required. 
  • Registered MFT Associate or ASW / License as a MFT, LCSW or Psychologist required. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in utilizing crisis intervention techniques; Familiarity with San Francisco County community resources. 
  • Fluency in Spanish
