About the Job

Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Safety & Support Leader is responsible for monitoring the Bayview YMCA, restrooms, building interior, and surrounding grounds to keep staff and the community safe and engaged during the school day and out-of-school time programs. The Safety & Support Leader will provide support to programs as requested, especially in the areas of behavior management and conflict mediation.

Salary range: $20.40 to $24.00 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

  • 22 years or older 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be available Monday to Friday from 3:00pm -7:00pm and occasional weekend shifts
  • 2+ years of experience working with school aged youth in an organized setting, and
  • 1+ year of experience in community engagement/service/support
  • Experience with restorative practices and de-escalation strategies 
  • Passion for social justice and knowledge of the Bayview Hunters Point community, its residents, and a desire to make a difference
  • Skills in restorative practices and/or de-escalation training
  • Strong understanding of the theory and practice of youth development
  • Experience teaching specific content area(s)
  • Ability to engage with middle school youth and build meaningful relationships with them
  • Background check fingerprint clearance 
  • TB Test Clearance 
  • Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (can complete upon hire) 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 23 years of age or older
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Tagalog
  • 3+ years' experience working with multi-ethnic and multicultural environment
  • Security Guard Registration and/or Restraint Training Certification
  • Passion for social justice and knowledge of the Bayview Hunters Point community, its residents, and a desire to make a difference 
  • Customer service experience
  • A commitment to providing young people and families with the highest quality experience possible
