About the Job
Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Safety & Support Leader is responsible for monitoring the Bayview YMCA, restrooms, building interior, and surrounding grounds to keep staff and the community safe and engaged during the school day and out-of-school time programs. The Safety & Support Leader will provide support to programs as requested, especially in the areas of behavior management and conflict mediation.
Salary range: $20.40 to $24.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- 22 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be available Monday to Friday from 3:00pm -7:00pm and occasional weekend shifts
- 2+ years of experience working with school aged youth in an organized setting, and
- 1+ year of experience in community engagement/service/support
- Experience with restorative practices and de-escalation strategies
- Passion for social justice and knowledge of the Bayview Hunters Point community, its residents, and a desire to make a difference
- Skills in restorative practices and/or de-escalation training
- Strong understanding of the theory and practice of youth development
- Experience teaching specific content area(s)
- Ability to engage with middle school youth and build meaningful relationships with them
- Background check fingerprint clearance
- TB Test Clearance
- Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (can complete upon hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- 23 years of age or older
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Tagalog
- 3+ years' experience working with multi-ethnic and multicultural environment
- Security Guard Registration and/or Restraint Training Certification
- Passion for social justice and knowledge of the Bayview Hunters Point community, its residents, and a desire to make a difference
- Customer service experience
- A commitment to providing young people and families with the highest quality experience possible
