About the Job

Stonestown Family YMCA is seeking a part-time teacher for the LCOS Preschool, located at 1011 Garfield St, San Francisco, 94132

The Preschool Teacher is part of a team which provides a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for all children enrolled in our program at the YMCA Preschool. The Preschool Teacher will actively participate and help plan all activities scheduled. The Preschool Teacher will supervise and support volunteers, and/or substitutes when needed. The position is responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with families being served at the YMCA Preschool. The Preschool Teacher must have a positive attitude and model appropriate behavior when dealing with children. The Preschool Teacher must observe and follow all regulations set forth by Community Care Licensing as well as instructions given by the Site Coordinator.

Scheduled shifts for Part-Time Teachers are 7:30 am - 1:00 pm OR 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Must be available Monday – Friday during program hours
  • 350+ days of 3+ hours per day within 4 years
  • Must be qualified for Child Development Teacher Permit (minimum 12 ECE core units) or higher
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience with MS Word and Excel
  • YMCA approved CPR/First Aid certification (may certify upon hire)
  • Provide TB clearance prior to hire and every 2 years thereafter
  • Proof of immunizations for Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles
  • Physical Health Clearance prior to hire and every 2 years thereafter 
  • Proof of COVID Vaccination
  • Fingerprint background check clearance through Community Care Licensing

Preferred Qualifications

  • AA or BA Degree in ECE or Child Development
  • Some experience working for YMCA
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese
  • Knowledge of DRDP, NAEYC, PITC, Anti-Bias Curriculum, Emergent Curriculum and Reggio Emilia
