Mission YMCA is seeking a Master Teacher for the Mission YMCA Preschool program: 4080 Mission St, San Francisco, 94122
The Preschool Master Teacher is part of a team which provides a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for all children enrolled in our program at the YMCA Preschool. The Preschool Master Teacher will actively participate and help plan all activities scheduled. The position will supervise and support volunteers, and/or substitutes when needed. The Preschool Master Teacher is responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with families being served at the YMCA Preschool and must have a positive attitude and model appropriate behavior when dealing with children. The Preschool Master Teacher must observe and follow all regulations set forth by Community Care Licensing as well as instructions given by the Site Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 21 years old
- Must be available Monday – Friday during program hours
- Must be qualified for Child Development Master Teacher permit or higher, or working toward permit qualification
- 350 days of experience in an instructional capacity in a child care and development program, working at least three hours per day within the last four years
- AA or BA Degree in ECE or Child Development
- Minimum of 12 ECE core units
- Experience leading teachers and/or assistant teachers
- Experience writing Desired Results Development Profiles (DRDP)
- Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- Experience with MS Word and Excel
- YMCA approved CPR/First Aid certification (may certify upon hire)
- Provide TB clearance prior to hire and every 2 years thereafter
- Submit proof of Immunizations for Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles
- Submit Physical Health Clearance prior to hire and every 2 years thereafter
- Fingerprint background check clearance through Community Care Licensing
Preferred Qualifications
- AA Degree in ECE or Child Development
- Some experience working for YMCA
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese
- Knowledge of DRDP, NAEYC, PITC, Anti-Bias Curriculum, Emergent Curriculum and Reggio Emilia
