About the Job
The YMCA Program Coordinator will oversee the Potrero Hill Creation Station (PHCS) Program which is funded by the Department of Children, Youth, & their families (DCYF). PHCS will supervise the whole PHCS staff, encompassing a full time assistant program coordinator and part time staff leaders The Site Coordinator will also oversee the Enrichment Programs, contractors and provide programs that that meet the needs of youth and partners. PHCS will provide STEAM programming that will utilize the Design Thinking Framework and provide daily challenge activities for innovation and creativity. Activities will be project based and experiential, focusing on technology, science, arts and math. Youth will learn and practice informed decision making, creative thinking, problem solving and innovation while also working in groups to foster positive cooperation and team building with peers. The PHCS Program Coordinator will create an environment that will encourage experimentation, learning via trial and error, and celebrate success through projects that come to life.
The Site Coordinator will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with grant funders, local schools and SF Arts. The Site Coordinator must maintain all relevant reporting to all relevant funders including the Department of Children, Youth, & their Families (DCYF). The goals are to improve literacy skill levels and academic performance, and to strengthen social-emotional skills in youth. As a member of the site management team, the Site Coordinator will also engage actively in our Annual Giving Campaign (City Walk), help plan and execute a Site Fundraiser, and other branch & department related events. The Site Coordinator will represent Urban Services YMCA in the Potrero Hill community, acting as liaison to several entities, both public and private to support the overall mission of the Urban Services Y at Creation Station.
It is necessary that s/he have a clear understanding of the relationship of the general public to the branch, of staff to volunteers, and of intra-staff actions. S/he must be able to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations, S/he must guide or direct all actions with a continuing consciousness of the operating objectives of the branch as defined in long and sort range branch plans. This is a year around position which follows the school district calendar, as well as the YMCA Summer Camp & Family Programs.
- 21 years of age
- 2 years college/Associates Degree
- Bachelor’s Degree with teaching credential or passing score on NCLB exam
- Must be available Monday - Friday (some weekends)
- Experience working with Middle School students
- Staff and Budget Management experience preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification, finger print and TB test clearance
- Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese/Mandarin a plus.
