Teen Fit

Want to work out but don’t know where to start? Our Teen Fit program is led by a personal trainer here at the Y. We’ll teach you new techniques, how to’s on leading a healthy lifestyle, and provide a space to work out with your friends. This fitness group is made for just teens! 

Senior Health Program - Aging Well Together

Aging Well Together is a free program for older adults ages 60+ and anyone ages 18-59 with a disability. Participants can take advantage of functional exercises classes designed by our wellness trainers and benefit from social events ranging from pot luck, hikes, group outings and community service opportunities to foster friendships and camaraderie. It’s never too late to feel great and get active. The Chinatown YMCA provides the facility for participants to maintain a healthy lifestyle, healthy relationships and a positive outlook on life. Maintaining an active lifestyle will improve your overall wellbeing, as well as physical fitness.

REQUIREMENTS:
Age 60+ and Ages 18-59 with Disability
Must attend 2 of 4 weekly exercises classes and 2 of 3 monthly social events or risk losing registration to wait list
Participant can make up a missed weekly exercise class by meeting with a wellness coach for support
(limited to 3 makes up per sign up period)

Aqua Basic Strength – Every Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am-10:00am
Strength and Balance Conditioning – Every Friday 11:00am-12:00pm
Tai Chi – Every Saturday 10:00am-11:00am
Monthly Social Events – Monthly TBD

Wellness Coaches

Wellness Coaches are great tools to enhance your workouts here at the Y. During certain hours you can find these Coaches out on the fitness floor. Go up and say "Hi", they are here to help you. Have a question about a machine? Trying to work on a certain muscle group? A Wellness Coach can answer all of your questions and help you get the best out of your workout!

Deanna Pinkston

Deanna is an ACE certified personal trainer and is also a certified instructor in Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, BOSU Balance training, and Studio Cycling.  Since 2010, Deanna has been teaching and training with an emphasis on healthy biomechanics and functional movement. 

Deanna is passionate about helping people create positive change in their lives through self-compassion, physical fitness and positive thinking.

Courtney is the Director of Aquatics and Wellness. She is passionate about helping members explore the variety of health benefits the YMCA can offer.

Raymond Wan

Raymond is Chinatown's Community Health Coordinator, as well as a wellness coach, personal trainer, and group exercise instructor. He has a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology. Raymond believes in fitness as someone's journey with movement. Just like in life, movement itself is too complex to master but we should always thrive to get better. No matter what part of this journey you are on, there is some form of movement you can improve. This can be strength, endurance, mobility, balance, agility, speed, explosiveness, rhythm, control, coordination, and the list goes on. Ultimately, you must move to improve your fitness and you get to choose your focus.
