Who We Are
Charles Drew Beacon is a program of Urban Services YMCA that is located in the Bayview District of San Francisco. We provide services such as academic support, arts and recreation, enrichments for students to learn leadership skills, life skills, and how to have fun in a safe space, family workshops, behavioral, health and wellness, and support for grade-level transitions for students and families. We host a family event once a month to keep our families informed and engaged with our school community. Our vision for Charles Drew After school program is to build a strong school-community by encouraging our youth to feel empowered to reach their highest potential through literacy and innovative activities.

Program Schedule
Charles Drew After School Program runs from 1:55pm - 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Every day we focus on academic support for the first hour of program which consists of homework help and at least 20 minutes focused on either a reading or math curriculum. At 3:00pm supper is served, and students engage in family-style eating practices for 30 minutes. From 3:30pm - 5:30pm students are engaged in different enrichment activities. They are given the choice to pick 2 different enrichments for a semester. From 5:30 - 6:00pm we do team building activities until students are picked up by their families.
