Take A Hike

Join hiking leader Larry as he takes you on refreshing morning hikes through the beautiful scenery of different Bay Area trails. Each month, we'll venture to a different trail for fresh air and exercise. Family and youth hikes are also offered each month! Bring the little ones along as we take in views and spot local wildlife.

Some hikes require pre-registration. Please see the front desk for current hike offerings.

Don't Forget: Pack a windbreaker, water, snacks, and please wear comfortable shoes.

March Hike: La Honda Creek Preserve

Saturday, March 17 (Meet us at 9:30am)

This is a 6-mile hike with the possibility of a 3-mile extension. We will get a great workout as we make steep climbs along the way. This newly opened scenic 6,142-acre expanse in rural San Mateo County was originally part of an 1830s Mexican land grant called Rancho San Gregorio. In the 1860s, it became a hideout for members of the Jesse James gang. It was, and still is today, a working cattle ranch where cattle graze along the trail. With rolling hills, grasslands, redwoods and the Pacific Ocean in the distance, the views are stunning.

April Hike: Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve

Saturday, April 21 (Meet us at 10:00am)

Join us on this 5 mile long hike for some short, but invigorating uphill climbs. It features diverse plant communities, steep topography and views of both the SF Bay and Pacific Ocean—a great hike for a spring day! The trail passes over Borel Hill, the highest named point in San Mateo County, offering a full 360-degree view. After the hike, why not visit the nearby nature center and/or visit the nearby Thomas Fogarty winery?
