About Y for Youth
Since 2012, Y for Youth has brought the Bay Area together to be inspired by youth and their community impact, to celebrate the essential role that the YMCA of San Francisco plays in youth reaching their full potential, and recognize the Y's community investors. Donors invest in the Y's mission to build healthy, sustainable, and equitable communities for all generations.
TOGETHER WE CAN CREATE BRIGHTER FUTURES FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY.
Y for Youth raises critical funds for local youth programs and amplifies the impact that youth are making in their communities every day.
Charles’ leadership transformed what was known to most as a Health & Wellness organization into a true comprehensive Social Services enterprise. His passion for creating a society that can sustain democracy and increase equity is evident not only in the transformative programs and services offered through the YMCA, but also through his work within the community.
Charles "Chuck" M. Collins is the President Emeritus of the YMCA of San Francisco where he served for nearly two decades as President and Chief Executive Officer.
From 1983 to 2002, Collins was President and Chairman of WDG Ventures, Inc., and its affiliated companies which were engaged in the investment and development of commercial and residential real estate. Collins has practiced law and was a former Deputy Secretary of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency for the State of California. Collins serves as the president of the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Community Council of the UCSF Center for Community Engagement, the board of the Commonwealth Club, Chair Emeritus of the ShapeUp SF Coalition, and as the vice-chair of board of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Mr. Collins received his Bachelor of Arts with honors from Williams College, with a double major in History and the History of Art, Master of City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Juris Doctor from the Harvard Law School.
Invest in Youth
Thanks to our community investors, Y for Youth has raised more than $3.1 million in the past six years. These funds make a direct impact on kids in your community by supporting the Y’s critical youth programs.
