AquaFit at the Y
Our goal is to provide easy and alternative modes of exercise for everyone. That’s why we are one of the few places in San Francisco that offer water aerobics as part of our Group Exercise schedule. With two pools to choose from, our invigorating and community-oriented classes will give you the fun and motivation that you want with low to medium impact.

The classes we offer are:
Aqua Basic Strength
(Shallow Water classes 9am Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday and 7pm Tuesday, Thursday)
This program uses the buoyant qualities of water to enhance physical fitness through exercises. It is a medium-impact water class designed to provide cardiovascular conditioning, improved muscle tone, and improved balance. It is a total body workout without the stress of land-based exercise. Appropriate for all levels.
Aqua Adaptive Strength
(Classes in the small pool 10am Monday, Friday)
Same foundations as our Aqua Basic Strength. More modifications offered and extra focus on range of motion and strength. Swimming ability is not necessary to participate in the program. Appropriate for all levels.
(Classes held 9am Tuesday,Thursday)
Zumba fitness in the pool! It is fun and invigorating with Latin American/international rhythms and dance foraqua fitness. The decreased force of gravity enables you to get a workout without stressing the joints and back, but will give you the aerobics to promote muscle flexibility and joint mobility. You will also be burning the same amount of calories, while your heart does not work as hard. Come and join the Zumba pool party experience! Appropriate for all levels.

An intense deep water class that incorporates cardiovascular fitness, core strengthening and toning. Participants do not have to be able to swim to participate in the class, however should be comfortable in deep water with a flotation belt. Flotation equipment will be provided. Appropriate for intermediate to advanced levels comfortable in deep water.
Aqua Basic Strength-Combo
(Class held 9am on Saturday)
Aqua Combo combines workouts for both shallow and deep water participants. The instructor teaches to both the shallow and deep end of the pool. It is a medium-impact water class designed to provide cardiovascular conditioning, improved muscle tone, and improved balance.
Stacey has been with the Y since 2010 beginning as a Group Exercise Instructor. Her passion is to get people moving through Group Ex Programming while having fun, getting fit and creating lasting relationships.
