For over 90 years, the Richmond District YMCA has been a neighborhood hub for those seeking a healthy Spirit, Mind, and Body. We are committed to providing all who live, work, and play in the Richmond District with the opportunities and connections needed to reach their highest potential. The Richmond District YMCA achieves this through high quality programs for youth, families, adults, and seniors, all set in a friendly and welcoming community atmosphere. Generations of children have learned and played together in our afterschool and camp programs. Generations of parents have found support and connection together in our family programs and events. Generations of adults have improved their health and wellbeing together through our fitness programs and memberships. Generations of seniors have made life sustaining connections and restored their health together through our social and wellness programs. The Richmond District YMCA is committed to strengthening the foundations of our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our programs for infants through seniors are all focused on making an everyday impact, every day, in the lives of everyone who comes through our doors. 


Depending on the day, you can find youth doing everything from building a garden (literally!) and learning the chemistry of cooking, to programming a LEGO robot they built and then controlling it with their iPads!


Every Monday and Friday, experienced instructors lead seniors through low impact exercise designed to promote joint range of movement, blood flow, nervous system synchronization, and muscle strengthening. For those who participate, these exercises can make the difference between steady decline and sustainable quality of life.


From week to week, teens do anything from have an Iron Chef cook-off to a karaoke sing-off.  No matter what activity is going on, you can be sure that these young people are ending their week with a dose of fun, engagement, and belonging they can’t get at home in front of the TV.


Every Wednesday and Thursday, volunteers from our community come out to serve those in need. Volunteers enjoy giving back to their community and program participants rely on our food pantry program to support their families in healthy living.
