Due to local health and safety guidance, our pools our closed. 

We look forward to reactivating our pool as soon as it is safe and public health guidelines allow. We will continue to offer health and wellness programming, including group exercise, strength training and cardio equipment.

What to Expect

Outdoor Circuit

  • Build Your Own Workout with access to free weights, fixed barbells, weight bench and a Keiser cycle bike or a Stationary Rower.
  • Wellness windows for outdoor circuits are available to YMCA of San Francisco active paying members only and advanced registration is encouraged.
  • Wellness circuits for outdoor personal workouts are limited to just a few members per hour, social distancing and face mask/covering required.
  • Wellness Window options: Monday-Saturday 7:30am-8:25am, 8:30am-9:25am, 9:30am-10:25am, and 10:30am-11:25am and Monday-Thursday: 3:30pm-4:25pm, 4:30pm-5:25pm and 5:30pm-6:25pm.

  • Adults 18+ only in the mornings, and Youth 13+  after 3pm weekdays and Saturdays, following the Youth Wellness Facility Guidelines.

Outdoor Group Exercise

  • Adults 18+ only in the mornings, and Youth 13+  after 3pm weekdays and Saturdays, following the Youth Wellness Facility Guidelines.
  • Available to active YMCA of San Francisco members only.
  • Registration is encouraged for all classes.
  • Please limit your reservations to one activity per day to ensure equitable access for all members.

Indoor Strength & Cardio (Closed as of Mon., Nov. 30)

  • Indoor Cardio and Strength Equipment usage is reservation-free (walk-up only), and must occur during scheduled operating hours. 
  • We request that you limit your time to 30 minutes on cardio equipment and 30 minutes on strength equipment to allow access all members seeking to use it.
  • The pool is closed due to County mandate.
  • Group Exercise classes are held indoors and outdoors, and advanced reservations are recommended.
  • Straps, yoga mats and other porous equipment is not available.
  • Maximum capacity for indoor wellness is 49 members (37 indoor cardio, 12 indoor strength training), and is subject to room capacity.
  • No reservations are required for indoor cardio and strength equipment.
  • You are permitted to use more than 1 piece of cardio or strength equipment during your visit.  All equipment must be cleaned before and after use.
  • Showers are not available. 
  • Adults 18+ years old only during our morning weekday operating hours. Individuals 13+ only after 3pm on Weekdays and all day on Weekends.
  • Please maintain a minimum of 6 ft of physical distance from people exercising at all times.

The safety and wellbeing of our members and staff are at the forefront of our planning. We have new protocols in place that you should know about before arriving for your visit to this branch.

Youth Guidelines

Y-Kids/Child Watch is currently unavailable. Youth 3+ must wear a face covering.

YOUTH AGES 0-5  

  • Are not permitted in YMCA facilities unless registered for a specific Youth Program or are participating with an adult in their Household during reserved Recreation/Household swim times.

YOUTH AGES 6-10 

  • Are permitted to use YMCA pools only. Fitness equipment and group exercise classes are not permitted for this age group at this time.  
  • Must reserve their own individual lap lane at the same time their parent/guardian reserves their lap lane (e.g., parent/guardian in lane 1 and youth/child in lane 2)  
  • Must pass a swim test before permitted to swim autonomously and without a PDF during Recreation/Household swim (a 50 yard swim of any stroke without stopping or assistance, and treading water for 1 minute if they cannot touch the pool bottom in their lane). 

YOUTH AGES 10-12

  • Must reserve their own Wellness Window at the same time as their parent/guardian*   
  • Must use the same area of the facility as their parent/guardian, and   
    • Strength: Cable Machines, Leg Press, Seated Row   
    • Free Weights: Only when supervised by a YMCA Personal Trainer   
    • May attend Group Exercise Classes that do not require equipment, and only when accompanied by their parent/guardian   
    • May reserve a Lap Lane and either water walk or lap swim and must pass a swim test (a 50 yard swim of any stroke without stopping or assistance, and treading water for 1 minute if they cannot touch the pool bottom in their lane)  
    • *Parent/guardian must reserve wellness window at the same time, and for any area of the facility when youth 10-12 are using the pool.  
    • May use the only the following fitness equipment, and only when accompanied by their parent/guardian:   
    • Cardio: Stationary Bicycle, Treadmill, Handcrank   

 YOUTH AGES 13-15

Note: Youth aged 13 and older may have a Teen membership on their own, requiring a parent/guardian signature upon activation. Parent/guardians do not need to be in the facility at the same time as Teen members.  

  • Must reserve their own Wellness Window, and   
  • May use only the following fitness equipment:   
    • Cardio: Bike, Treadmill, Hand Crank, AMT, Elliptical, Rowing Machine   
    • Strength: Cable Machine, All strength machines   
    • Free weights: With a personal trainer or after a specific free-weight orientation   
    • May attend all Group Exercise Classes, unless otherwise specified on the Class Description   
    • May reserve a Lap Lane and either water walk or lap swim and must pass a swim test (a 50 yard swim of any stroke without stopping or assistance, and treading water for 1 minute if they (pool is currently closed)

 YOUTH AGES 16-17

  • Must reserve their own Wellness Window, and   
  • May use all fitness equipment   
  • May attend all Group Exercise Classes, unless otherwise specified on the Class Description   
  • May reserve a Lap Lane   
  • May be required to pass a swim test (a 50 yard swim of any stroke without stopping or assistance, and treading water for 1 minute if they cannot touch the pool bottom in their lane)
