Making Positive Changes for our Community​

In 2013, the Treasure Island Community YMCA became the main provider for Health and Wellness and Youth Development for all families living on Treasure Island and have been growing and developing programs and opportunities for the community since, free of cost. Offering health and wellness class, nutrition tips and open gym space for the adult and teen population as well as providing several youth programs and opportunities during Out of School time such as after-school, weekend enrichment programs and summer camps.

Believing that communities are a source of rich expertise and human capital, we also focus many efforts on community engaging by hosting family engagement opportunities and collaborating with other partners on located on Treasure Island to support the needs of the community. The Treasure Island Community YMCA believes that by investing in the future of individuals and their communities, providing platforms for those individuals to effect change in themselves, in the built and natural environments in which they live, and in our society.

What to know before your visit:

MASK POLICY

When you visit the Facility, you’ll notice signs throughout the facility that indicate masks are optional or required in that space.

PROOF OF VACCINATION

Please show one of the following at the front desk:

Original, copy or picture of your CDC vaccination card or similar documentation issued by a foreign governmental jurisdiction

Personal Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record issued by the State of California or by an approved private company. You can access your State of California vaccine record by visiting myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov

HEALTH & SAFETY

The safety and wellbeing of our members and staff are at the forefront of our planning. We have protocols in place that you should know about before arriving for your visit. Please read the following safety protocols and the behaviors/actions we expect of members visiting the Y.

MEMBER/STAFF PROTOCOLS

  • Windows will remain open so dress appropriately to match your personal comfort
  • Member lounge will remain closed until Safety Guidelines allow their use
  • Plexiglass barriers at membership desk
  • Members must wipe all equipment before and after each use i.e. anything that you touch
  • Basketball gym is a shared space for adult basketball, group exercise classes, sports, and other fitness activities.

CLEANING PROTOCOLS

  • Enhanced cleaning protocols with approved disinfectant
  • Mandatory janitorial and program staff training – proper disinfecting procedures
  • Disposable disinfectant gym wipes provided for members to clean equipment before/after use
  • Daily disinfectant fogging of equipment / high-touch areas and unhindered fresh air circulation
  • Weekly disinfectant fogging of the entire facility

Healthy Living

Our Programs

The Treasure Island YMCA provides free healthy living programming that utilizes the renovated space, featuring a gym, three full-court basketball courts, a fitness center with new machines and free weights, and a yoga room. The Wellness Staff provides free, personalized fitness programs to assist you in maximizing your experience at the YMCA.  

YOUTH WELLNESS GUIDELINES

WE ASK THAT PARENTS/GUARDIANS AND THEIR CHILD(REN) READ AND FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW.

YOUTH AGES 0-9  

  • Are not permitted in YMCA facilities unless registered for a specific supervised Youth Program.
  • May attend recreation on the gym courts when accompanied by a parent or guardian 

YOUTH AGE 10-12

  • Must show proof of vaccination
  • Must use the same area of the facility as their parent/guardian, and 
    • Strength: Cable Machines, Leg Press, Seated Row 
    • Free Weights: No free weights  
    • May attend Group Exercise Classes that do not require equipment, and only when accompanied by their parent/guardian*
    • May use the only the following fitness equipment, and only when accompanied by their parent/guardian: 
      • Cardio: Stationary Bicycle, Treadmill, 

YOUTH AGES 13-15 

Note: Youth aged 13 and older may have a Community Teen membership on their own, requiring a parent/guardian signature upon activation. Parent/guardians do not need to be in the facility at the same time as Teen members. 

  • Must show proof of vaccination
  • May use the following fitness equipment: 
    • Cardio: Bike, Treadmill, Elliptical, Rowing Machine 
    • Strength: Cable Machine, All strength machines 
    • Free weights: after a specific free-weight orientation 
    • May attend all Group Exercise Classes, unless otherwise specified on the Class Description

YOUTH AGES 16-17 

  • Must show proof of vaccination
  • May use all fitness equipment 
  • May attend all Group Exercise Classes, unless otherwise specified on the Class Description 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Our YMCA Out of School programs foster each child’s cognitive, social-emotional and physical development through opportunities and experiences which focus on achievement, relationships and belonging.

Amazing Learning Experiences

As an organization committed to positive youth development, our out of school programs support your child's academic success and promote healthy physical, emotional, and social development. The program's curriculum is designed to expose youth to a wide variety of activities, improve critical thinking skills, develop leadership, build character and confidence, and to improve overall health and wellness. Activities include: homework help, team sports, nutrition and cooking classes, arts, academic enrichments and more!

PROGRAM INFORMATION

GRADES: Entering Kindergarten-5th grades.

DATES: First day of care begins on Monday, 08/16/2021, last day is Wednesday, 06/01/2022.

HOURS: 2:00 pm-6:15 pm

Throughout the school year we may offer a variety of one day camps for holiday breaks. We are currently working on confirming more program information regarding one day camps. Please check back with us soon!

Helping You Achieve Your Goals

Shiante Lewis is the Sr. Director of the Treasure Island Community YMCA. Shiante's deep commitment to the T.I. community and strong understanding of youth work makes her the perfect fit to continue expanding Community Programs on the Island. Shiante works to understand and develop programs and opportunities that are fitting for all residents.

Rudolph “Trey” Russell is the Assistant Director at the Treasure Island Community YMCA. Trey began his YMCA career 5 years ago in the community department working in after school programming then quickly transitioned over to work with the Treasure Island Community. The connection of assisting and creating enticing programs for our community is his sole reason for doing this work.

Carlos Calamateo is the the Youth Programs & Camp Manager for the Treasure Island Community YMCA. Since 2018 Carlos has supported the T.I YMCA’s weekly and Summer/Holiday youth programs opportunities for the youth and families of Treasure Island. Carlos takes great pride in the smiles on the faces of all the youth served and all the positive experiences/impacts made in the T.I community.
