Black History Month and Lunar New Year at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA
This February, we held our annual Black History Month Lunar New Year’s Celebration at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA, with our partners at the Community Youth Center of SF and the Chinatown Community Development Center. This is our 7th year of celebrating culture, family, and traditions of African Americans and Asian Americans, promoting racial harmony and solidarity. The Lion dancers opened the program with a bang! Multiple performers from around the city, representing both cultures, performed for the crowd of 168 attendees.
We were honored to host San Francisco District 10 Supervisor Malia Cohen, David Chiu, California State Assemblyman, Carmen Chu, San Francisco Assessor-Recorder, Theo Ellington, Director of Public Affairs for the Golden State Warriors, and Shamann Walton, President of the San Francisco Board of Education. It was a great community celebration, and we’re thrilled to carry forward this tradition.
