YMCA of Greater San Francisco Welcomes Three New Members to its Association Board of Directors
New Directors Bring Expertise in People Strategy, Nonprofit Governance and Finance to Advance the Y’s Focus on Community Well-being
SAN FRANCISCO, August 27, 2026 — The YMCA of Greater San Francisco, which serves 130,000 adults and youth each year through its 130+ locations in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties, today announced that it has elected three new members to its Board of Directors at the association level.
“Our new Board members bring a wealth of expertise and have a shared passion for strengthening the health and vitality of communities across the Bay Area,” said YMCA of Greater San Francisco President and CEO Jamie Bruning-Miles. “The insight, experience and leadership these three individuals bring will help guide our strategic and fundraising initiatives and support the Y’s deep commitment to fostering community well-being in the communities we serve.”
New YMCA of Greater San Francisco Board Members include:
Amy Wireman, Chief People Officer, BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. An experienced human resources executive and people-centered leader, Wireman leads BioMarin’s people organization, including talent acquisition, learning and development, compensation and benefits, and diversity, equity and inclusion. She joined BioMarin in 2013 after senior HR leadership roles at Wind River, Xyratex and Micromuse. Wireman previously served on the board of the Family Violence Law Center and brings a longstanding commitment to community service, with particular interest in leadership development and organizational resilience. A resident of Alameda, she values an active, healthy lifestyle and is honored to align her passion for people-centered leadership with the Y’s mission. Wireman earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at New York University.
David Byrd, Co-founder and Senior Advisor, Capacity Blueprint. A highly experienced nonprofit professional, Byrd brings deep expertise in strategic fundraising, organizational capacity building and nonprofit governance. He co-founded Capacity Blueprint, a consulting firm that supports small and emerging nonprofits through board development, fundraising strategy and leadership advising, and previously held development and grants leadership roles with On Lok, East Bay Agency for Children and the Alzheimer’s Association San Diego/Imperial Chapter. Byrd brings especially strong YMCA governance experience, currently serving as Chair of the Stonestown Branch Advisory Board and as a member of the Association Office Board Development Committee, and has previously contributed to the AO Board Development Task Force and the YMCA 2030 Vision Task Force. Byrd holds a Master of Nonprofit Administration degree from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Connecticut College.
Caroline Reid, Audit Partner, KPMG LLP. Reid has spent more than two decades at KPMG managing audit engagements for public and private companies across the consumer, industrial and technology sectors, delivering insightful financial guidance to executives and boards. A member of the YMCA Embarcadero since the early 2000s, she has deep financial expertise and a longstanding personal connection to the Y. Reid holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Drake University and is a certified public accountant in California.
