The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is committed to providing quality youth programming and exceptional summer camp experiences to our Bay Area families. At Y day camp, kids can develop skills, self-confidence, new friendships and a sense of belonging – all while having tons of fun.

Program Information
Campers are organized into small age-appropriate groups. Each camp session is led by well-trained youth development staff. Our daily activities are developed with your camper’s age and skills in mind, tailored to keep your camper engaged and having fun. This summer, your camper can expect their week to be full of excursions, arts and crafts, camp songs, building friendships, and so much more!

Our Discoverers program is packed with excitement for incoming kindergarteners and first graders! Three days a week, young explorers dive into colorful art projects, mind-blowing STEAM experiments, and thrilling games to stay active and have fun! Then, two days a week, we hit the road for awesome field trips around the Bay Area—discovering new places and making amazing memories. Every day brings something new to explore, create, and celebrate!

Calling all young adventurers! Our Adventurers program is action-packed for incoming 2nd and 3rd graders ready to level up their summer. Three days a week, kids unleash their creativity with exciting art projects, tackle cool STEAM challenges, compete in high-energy games, and work together in epic team competitions. Then, two days a week, we explore the Bay Area on unforgettable field trips, discovering hidden gems and making incredible memories with friends. Every day is a new adventure waiting to happen!

Ready to explore like never before! Our Explorers program is designed for 4th and 5th graders ready to take on bigger challenges and discover more. Two days a week, campers dive into advanced art projects, innovative STEAM activities, competitive games, and exciting team challenges. Then, twice a week, we venture out on action-packed field trips throughout the Bay Area—uncovering new destinations, trying new experiences, and creating unforgettable summer memories. It’s the ultimate summer of exploration and fun!

Movin’ On Up
The ultimate camp experience for teens! Our Movin’ On Up Camp is designed for incoming 6th-8th graders ready to level up their skills and independence. Campers will develop more advanced technical abilities through challenging hands-on projects while enjoying plenty of fun along the way. Friendly competitions and team activities build camaraderie and lasting friendships. With field trips twice a week to exciting locations throughout the Bay Area, it’s the perfect blend of skill-building, adventure, and social connection. This is where middle schoolers thrive!

Weekly Theme: Magic of the Gathering – Step into a world of enchantment and wonder! Campers will explore mystical adventures, create magical crafts, and embark on spellbinding quests. From potion-making to treasure hunts, every day brings new magical discoveries and fantastical fun!

Our Y-Tykes program is designed especially for our youngest campers! Open to four and a half to six year olds, they will enjoy a perfect blend of creativity, discovery, and play in a nurturing environment. Each day, little ones explore colorful art projects, engaging STEAM activities, and introductory sports that build coordination and confidence. Instead of field trips, we bring the adventure to camp—from captivating magic shows to hands-on visits from traveling animal zoos! Every day is filled with age-appropriate fun, new friends, and exciting experiences tailored just for them.

Y-Rangers
Become a Junior Ranger with our Y-Rangers Camp! Incoming K-2nd and 3rd-5th graders will explore the natural world of the Bay Area through an exciting collaboration with the Presidio YMCA and the National Park Service. Campers engage in hands-on experiences that teach sustainability, environmental preservation, and respect for nature. From discovering local ecosystems to learning conservation practices, young rangers will develop a deep connection to the outdoors while making a positive impact on their community. It’s an adventure that inspires the next generation of environmental stewards!

Splash
Our Splash Camp is perfect for incoming 2nd-5th graders who love the water! Campers will spend 3 hours each day in the pool—1.5 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours in the afternoon. Each camper receives a 30-minute swim lesson to build their skills, with the rest of the time dedicated to recreational swim and fun group games. When out of the pool, campers dive into exciting water-themed projects and activities that keep the aquatic fun going all day long. It’s the perfect summer for kids who love to make a splash!

STEAM
Travel back in time with our Ancient Civilizations STEAM Camp! Incoming 2nd-5th graders will explore the innovations and engineering marvels of past cultures through hands-on projects and challenges. Campers will build technical skills as they construct pyramids, design aqueducts, create ancient inventions, and solve problems like real engineers and architects from history. It’s an exciting blend of science, technology, engineering, art, and math that brings the ancient world to life!

Discover something new every week with our Specialty Camp! Incoming 2nd-5th graders (and 6th-8th graders for weeks 7-8) will dive into a different exciting theme each week, from LEGOs and cooking to dance, sports, theater, and more. Campers engage in hands-on activities designed to teach new skills and techniques throughout the week. Each session culminates in a special demonstration where campers showcase what they’ve learned and created. It’s the perfect opportunity to try new things, build confidence, and leave with skills that last all summer long!

Leaders In Training
Step into leadership with our Leaders in Training program! Designed for incoming 9th-11th graders, this five-week course combines one week of purposeful training with four weeks of hands-on field work. Participants will support younger camp units while applying essential leadership skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism. This isn’t just a camp—it’s a transformative experience that prepares teens to become confident young professionals. LITs will gain real-world experience, build their resumes, and develop the skills needed to stand out in any future endeavor!

Splash Camp (Ages 7-11)
Water World – Make a splash this summer! Campers will take daily swim lessons to build water confidence and skills, then cool off during recreational swim time. Get ready for water games, poolside fun, and making waves with new friends!
- Program operates at the Stonestown YMCA pool.

Ancient Egypt – Uncover the mysteries of the pharaohs! Campers will engineer pyramids, decode hieroglyphics, design scarab jewelry, and explore the science behind mummification. Build like an ancient architect and discover how this incredible civilization shaped our world!

LEGO Legends – Build your dreams brick by brick! This all-LEGO camp features creative building challenges, collaborative construction projects, and imaginative play. From cityscapes to vehicles to fantastical creatures, campers will become master builders and bring their wildest ideas to life!

Training Week – Begin your leadership journey! This training week focuses on youth development principles, working with children, and preparing for field experience. Build the skills and confidence to become impactful community leaders while preparing for hands-on work with younger campers.

How to register
To register online, you will need to access your online account to get started. If you do not have an online account, you can create one through our Community Portal by clicking on ‘Create Account’ in the lower right corner of the login window. Due to registration requirements, select branches do not offer online registration and must be done in person.
You do not need a YMCA Facility Membership to register; however, YGSF members with active Facility Memberships can receive a discount of up to 20% on select youth development programs. If you’d like to join the Y, please click here to select the membership plan that best suits your needs.
Families without Facility Memberships can register as Community Members; this account is free of charge.
Once you have logged into your account, you will be able to select the camp sessions you’d like to register for. A deposit is due for each weekly session for each child. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. Your paid deposit will hold your camper’s slot for the weekly session selected, and the remaining balance (less the paid deposit) will be due 9 business days prior to the camper’s start date. Payment due dates are available for review below.
THIRD-PARTY BILLING
We accept 3rd Party Billing, such as Children’s Council, Marin Childcare Council or 4Cs. All inquiring families must submit a Certificate/Contract of child services provided by your caseworker to [email protected] before a request for enrollment can be submitted. Please note that you may be responsible for a portion of camp dues. Please contact your caseworker to notify them of the camp(s) you’d like to register for.

Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance is available to families who qualify.
To apply, please fill out our Financial Assistance Application and email your completed form to [email protected] along with two types of income verification. Please refer to the application form for acceptable forms of income verification.
Families who qualified for Financial Assistance during the calendar year do not need to re-apply. If you have not been awarded Financial Assistance within the calendar year, then you will need to re-apply.
Applicants can expect to hear back from an associate in approximately 15 business days with award details.

We will notify families by email if a space becomes available. You will have 48 hours to accept or decline the waitlisted spot. If we do not hear back from you, we will move on to the next child on the list. For confidentiality reasons and standard operating procedures, we do not reveal where a child’s spot is on the waitlist.
YMCA leaders are encouraging, patient, and can help facilitate successful camp experiences for children with mild to moderate disabilities. For specific questions regarding your child, please contact the branch-specific site contact.
- All deposits are non-refundable
- Cancellations that come in 10 business days or more before the program begins or earlier are subject to a refund of payment but do not include the deposit.
- Cancellation requests made 9 days or less than the program start date will have no refund.
You can expect to hear from your camp team roughly a week before the camp week begins, which will include details like a packing list, meals, snack policies, etc.
