The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is committed to providing quality youth programming and exceptional summer camp experiences to our Bay Area families. At Y day camp, kids can develop skills, self-confidence, new friendships and a sense of belonging – all while having tons of fun.
Trained Youth Development Staff
Our youth development leaders are trained in CPR and First Aid.
Health & Safety
The Y abides by all public health guidelines set by the city, county, and state.

We offer morning and afternoon extended care for an additional fee.

GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION
Program Information
Campers are organized into small age-appropriate groups. Each camp session is led by well-trained youth development staff. Our daily activities are developed with your camper’s age and skills in mind, tailored to keep your camper engaged and having fun. This summer, your camper can expect their week to be full of excursions, arts and crafts, camp songs, building friendships, and so much more!

Discoverers
“Hands-on adventure that builds confidence, friendships, and early independence.” Our Discoverers camp serves kindergarteners and 1st graders with a fun, structured day full of intentional activities. Campers build relationships through hands-on crafts, songs and games, STEM learning, and recreation time. This group will take walking field trips to parks, landmarks, or interactive spaces within the Bay Area. Throughout the week, Discoverers practice teamwork, learn new skills, and enjoy small-group experiences of 10-12 campers while having fun and making friends.

Adventurers
“Bigger challenges, deeper creativity, and adventures that spark curiosity.” Our Adventurers camp engages 2nd and 3rd graders with greater challenges and more opportunities to explore. Campers participate in themed activities, outdoor play, and creative projects while taking field trips to exciting Bay Area locations such as parks, museums, and local landmarks. Adventures spend the week building teamwork, trying new things, and having fun with friends in small groups of 10-12 campers.

Explorers
“Outdoor challenge, teamwork, and real-world exploration across the Peninsula.” Our Explorers are entering 4th and 5th grade and experience exciting off-site field trips throughout the Bay Area. Campers take on new challenges, explore local adventures, and build independence within a supportive camp community. Each week blends hands-on projects, outdoor play, and team-building activities that help campers grow socially and have fun with friends.

Movin’ On Up
“Leadership, independence, and Bay Area experiences designed for growing teens.” Movin’ On Up is designed for rising middle schoolers ready for more independence and adventure. Campers will experience off-site field trips each week across the Bay Area while participating in leadership opportunities, group challenges, and age-appropriate enrichment. This camp helps youth build responsibility, confidence, and friendships while enjoying new and exciting summer experiences.

Weekly Theme: Bay Area Treasure Quest – Maps, clues, team challenges, mysteries and local exploration.
*No camps will be held on Friday, 6/19/26, Juneteenth.
Weekly Theme: Bridge Builders & Trailblazers – Engineering, design challenges, building projects and outdoor trail adventures.
Weekly Theme: City Safari: Wildlife of the Bay – Nature exploration, animal adaptations, outdoor investigations, and ecosystem fun.

Weekly Theme: Innovators of the Bay – STEM design labs, maker challenges, creativity and problem-solving inspired by the Silicon Valley.
Weekly Theme: Cultural Coastline – Art, music, food stories and hands-on learning celebrating the Bay Area’s diversity.
Weekly Theme: Redwood Rangers – Outdoor skills, nature stories, hiking exploration (age-appropriate) and team challenges.
Weekly Theme: Bay Area Games & Movement Festival – Sports rotations, creative movement, teamwork challenges and high-energy fun.
Weekly Theme: Adventure Across the Peninsula – Local exploration, neighborhood adventures, parks, community spaces, and end-of-summer highlights.

Specialty – Y-Tykes (Available Weeks 1-8)
“Where little explorers take big steps.” Our Y-Tykes Camps are designed just for TK and Kindergarten campers and offer everything little learners love about summer. We focus on hands-on experiences, arts and crafts, music, movement, and age-appropriate challenges that make learning fun. Each weekly theme brings new activities, creative projects, and organized play that help campers build confidence and friendships. Tykes enjoy a unique, exciting experience while staying primarily on-site, with one short off-site trip each week to support exploration in a safe, guided way.

Specialty – Splash (Available Weeks 4, 5, 6)
“Daily swim, daily confidence–where water and adventure meet.” Splash Camp helps youth build confidence in and around water while enjoying a full camp experience. Campers participate in daily swim sessions led by Certified YMCA Lifeguards and Swim Instructors. The morning focuses on comfort and swim-skill development, followed by an afternoon “free swim.” Campers also enjoy themed activities, outdoor play, and traditional camp games throughout the week for a balanced and active summer experience.

Weekly Theme: Little Explorers Kickoff – Tiny adventurers explore nature, textures, colors and simple treasure hunts around site.
*No camps will be held on Friday, 6/19/26, Juneteenth holiday.
Weekly Theme: Storybook Adventures – Each day highlights a different children’s story brought to life through crafts, movement and make-believe.
Weekly Theme: Tiny Trail Trekkers – Gentle nature walks, leaf rubbings, bug-spotting and outdoor discovery perfect for little learners.

Weekly Theme: Color Splash Week – A full week of color mixing, painting, sensory art and bright, joyful creations.

Weekly Theme: Ocean Explorers – Underwater searches, marine-inspired games, water safety-skill building and ocean creativity.

Weekly Theme: Little Inventors Lab – Young minds explore building with blocks, magnets, shapes and simple STEM play.

Weekly Theme: Splash Science Lab – Water experiments, buoyancy play, boat building and STEM-in-the-pool challenges.

Weekly Theme: Music, Motion & Me – Movement games, rhythm play, dance circles and musical storytelling.
Splash Camp
Weekly Theme: Pool Party Week – Swim games, relays, confidence-building challenges, and a fun, celebratory week in the water.
Weekly Theme: Water Wonders – Hands-on water play, bubbles, boats and splash based exploration (not swimming).
Weekly Theme: Tykes Around the Bay – A gentle introduction to Bay Area culture through food pretend-play simple art and local storytelling.
How to register
To register online, you will need to access your online account to get started. If you do not have an online account, you can create one through our Community Portal by clicking on ‘Create Account’ in the lower right corner of the login window. Due to registration requirements, select branches do not offer online registration and must be done in person.
You do not need a YMCA Facility Membership to register; however, YGSF members with active Facility Memberships can receive a discount of up to 20% on select youth development programs. If you’d like to join the Y, please click here to select the membership plan that best suits your needs.
Families without Facility Memberships can register as Community Members; this account is free of charge.
Once you have logged into your account, you will be able to select the camp sessions you’d like to register for. A deposit is due for each weekly session for each child. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. Your paid deposit will hold your camper’s slot for the weekly session selected, and the remaining balance (less the paid deposit) will be due 9 business days prior to the camper’s start date. Payment due dates are available for review below.
THIRD-PARTY BILLING
We accept 3rd Party Billing, such as Children’s Council, Marin Childcare Council or 4Cs. All inquiring families must submit a Certificate/Contract of child services provided by your caseworker to [email protected] before a request for enrollment can be submitted. Please note that you may be responsible for a portion of camp dues. Please contact your caseworker to notify them of the camp(s) you’d like to register for.
Financial assistance is available to families who qualify, made possible by donors of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco. Please see below for more information.

Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance is available to families who qualify.
To apply, please fill out our Financial Assistance Application and email your completed form to [email protected] along with two types of income verification. Please refer to the application form for acceptable forms of income verification.
Families who qualified for Financial Assistance during the calendar year do not need to re-apply. If you have not been awarded Financial Assistance within the calendar year, then you will need to re-apply.
Applicants can expect to hear back from an associate in approximately 15 business days with award details.

Most camp programs will have at least one off-site field trip per week. Please consult with the branch staff to confirm schedules in the late Spring.

Summer Camp FAQs
We will notify families by email if a space becomes available. You will have 48 hours to accept or decline the waitlisted spot. If we do not hear back from you, we will move on to the next child on the list. For confidentiality reasons and standard operating procedures, we do not reveal where a child’s spot is on the waitlist.
YMCA leaders are encouraging, patient, and can help facilitate successful camp experiences for children with mild to moderate disabilities. For specific questions regarding your child, please contact the branch-specific site contact.
- All deposits are non-refundable
- Cancellations that come in 10 business days or more before the program begins or earlier are subject to a refund of payment but do not include the deposit.
- Cancellation requests made 9 days or less than the program start date will have no refund.
You can expect to hear from your camp team roughly a week before the camp week begins, which will include details like a packing list, meals, snack policies, etc.
