The YMCA of San Francisco prioritizes the health and safety of our youth and staff. Our youth programs abide by all public health guidelines as set by the city, county, and state. Since March 2020, we have been safely running in-person programming and will continue to put the health and safety of youth and staff at the forefront of all our programs. Detailed COVID restrictions and procedures will be distributed to families in the weeks prior the beginning of camp to ensure the most accurate information is being distributed. Any changes to our COVID policies will be communicated in as timely a manner as possible.

Our traditional camps are age-specific and offers youth greater challenges with every year. Activities include structured and unstructured games, sports, arts and crafts, team building activities, and songs.

Y Tykes - Specialty Camps

Half and full-day options for Y-Tykes Camp. One field trip a week on Fridays, for full-day campers only.
Our Y-Tyke Camps are specialty camps made just for kindergarteners and 1st graders! This camp offers everything you can think of when it comes to summer camp. We focus on hands-on experiences, arts, media, and challenges that make learning fun. Our weekly themes arts & crafts, camp songs, and organized games allow day campers to really enjoy a unique experience while staying on-site Monday through Thursday, and a Friday field trip (for full-day campers only)!

Campers will immerse themselves in the Jurassic period within the Mesozoic era and learn and create fun crafts about the different dinosaur species that used to roam the earth millions of years ago, through fun, hands-on crafts, and activities. |

Our Discoverers camps are designed for youth entering Kindergarten and 1st grades and will introduce campers to a fun day filled with intentional relationship-building activities, arts and crafts, songs & games, and much more! Thingamajig Camp will gear up our steam-ers for the annual Thingamajig Invention Convention. Campers will learn through hands-on exhibits, challenges, and experiments, all while using unconventional materials. |

Splash Camp
Half and full-day options for Splash Camp.
Swimmers will learn basic water safety and swimming skills by participating in daily swim lessons and organized water and pool games. Camp Leaders are in the water during pool time, with Certified Lifeguards and Swim Teachers.
This camp strives to build youth's confidence in and around water. Campers will be in the water for two 45-minute sessions every day. The morning session is spent getting comfortable being in the water and learning basic swim strokes from Swim Instructors. The afternoon session is a "free swim.” The rest of the day combines active games, crafts, and fun activities. Participants must be 6.5 years or older by 9/01/2023. Swim Test Required.

Sports Camp
Half and full-day options for Sports Camp. One field trip a week for full-day campers only.
Sports Camp is available for so many of our campers looking to help build skills, fitness, and self-esteem. Each week, a special emphasis will be placed on a specific sport that includes skill sessions from 10:00 am-12:00 pm which provide our campers with coaching, practice, and game-like scenarios to test their skills. Our afternoons will be reserved for going the extra mile with scrimmages or even time to cool down with a fun sports-related craft!

The Y and partners bridged the growing disconnect between young people and the great outdoors by creating meaningful connections to nature – let's start exploring! |
SESSION 6: 07/10/23-07/14/23AQUA ADVENTURESSplash camp doesn't just happen in the pool - this summer we are riding the wave with Travel Camp all over the Bay Area! Each day campers will experience a field trip adventure to aquatic locations, from water parks, aquariums and even splash pads. Sports Camp
Half and full-day options for Sports Camp. One field trip a week for full-day campers only.
Sports Camp is available for so many of our campers looking to help build skills, fitness, and self-esteem. Each week, a special emphasis will be placed on a specific sport that includes skill sessions from 10:00 am-12:00 pm which provide our campers with coaching, practice, and game-like scenarios to test their skills. Our afternoons will be reserved for going the extra mile with scrimmages or even time to cool down with a fun sports-related craft!

Specialty Travel Camp

C.I.T. Training Week
SESSION 2 & 3:

Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.) is a summer-long leadership training and mentorship program for 9th and 10th graders. The 2 weeks of training portion is mandatory as the C.I.T. participants will learn leadership skills while making friends and having fun. The C.I.T. training weeks will prepare the participants to be ready for the post-training fieldwork, engaging with younger campers and working alongside a staff mentor.
C.I.T. Fieldwork
The Fieldwork Program is an opportunity for C.I.T.s to use their leadership skills with a group of younger campers while working with the Y's incredible camp staff. C.I.T.s must be present daily and will experience various camp programs, assist in the daily operations of camp and receive the valuable on-the-job experience that will help build a strong foundation for any career! C.I.T.s must complete the 2-week training prior to participating in the Fieldwork Program. Placement in Fieldwork is not guaranteed.

Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance is available for families who qualify. Please fill out the attached form here, and send to branchFA@ymcasf.org along with two types of income verification. Families can expect to have award amounts in about 15 business days.
Families who receive Financial Assistance during the school year do not need to re-apply for summer.

The session/camp week I want to register my child(ren) for is full. I've joined a waitlist, what can I expect?
We will notify families via email if a space becomes available. You will have 48 hours to accept or decline the waitlisted spot. If we do not hear back from you, we will move on to the next child on the list. For confidentiality reasons and standard operating procedures, we do not reveal where a child’s spot is on the waitlist.
My child has special needs, who should I contact for support or more information?
YMCA leaders are encouraging, patient, and can help facilitate successful camp experiences for children with mild to moderate disabilities. For specific questions regarding your child, please contact the branch-specific site contact.
