Swimming on a team as a means of exercise is not limited to youth or Olympic Swimmers. By joining a Swim Team, swimmers focus on stroke technique and endurance which lead to physical, mental and social benefits.

embarcadero YMCA – The Electric Eels swim team

The Electric Eels Swim Team is about fun, teamwork, healthy competition, and striving for personal bests—whether that’s completing a practice or competing at Y Nationals. Our trained coaches focus on skill development, endurance, and fostering a love for swimming through structured practices that include stretching, warm-ups, technique, endurance, and cool-downs. We promote fitness, confidence, and the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Swimmers ages 6–18 are welcome!

Tryouts are by appointment only and must be booked 15 minutes before practice.  To schedule a tryout, e-mail Embarcadero Aquatics.

Must have completed YMCA Level 5 OR complete the swim test:
  • Can swim 50m yard freestyle, demonstrating side breathing and good body position.
  • Can swim 25 m backstroke demonstrating goo body position.
  • Can swim 25 m of Breaststroke or Butterfly are a plus.

Participants are expected to attend practices, demonstrate effort, and develop their skills. While meet participation is not required, it provides an important opportunity to reflect the team aspect of swimming: you swim together, you win together.

  • Mondays: 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. (1 Hour)
  • Thursdays: 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. (1 Hour)
  • Saturdays: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (1.5 Hours)

Register for one of three tiers:

  1. Tier A: Monday and Thursday ONLY
    Cost: $150 member; $195 non member
  2. Tier B: Saturday ONLY
    Cost: $75 member; $95 non member
  3. Tier C: Monday, Thursday AND Saturday
    Cost: $215 member; $285

Red ORCA (Ages 5-12)

Practice Dates and Times (2x a week for 45 minutes)
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 4:05 pm – 4:50 pm

Orange ORCA (Ages 5-12)

Practice Dates and Times (2x a week for 60 minutes)
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 4:50 pm – 5:50 pm

Yellow ORCA (Ages 5-15)

Practice Dates and Times (2x a week for 90 minutes)
Mondays & Wednesdays: 4:05 pm – 5:20 pm

YMCA Pacific Aquatic Club (YPAC)

The YMCA Pacific Aquatic Club (YPAC) is a year-round competitive youth swim team (USA Swimming) located at the Presidio YMCA of San Francisco. YPAC offers high-quality, professional coaching and technique instruction for swimmers aged 6-18 years old. It is our goal to offer age and skill-specific training, geared towards challenging and developing each individual swimmer to the best of their abilities. We strenuously encourage teamwork and support all team members in achieving their personal best.

Embarcadero ymca swim club – the otters (ages 18+)

The Embarcadero YMCA is excited for the growth of our own Swim Club, ‘The Otters’. If you can swim 500m non stop and want to push your workout further in 2025, then we invite you for one free week.  There are four weekly 1.5 hour sessions, with Coach Claire. Improve all of your swimming abilities!  For more information please email, Coach Claire.
