Position Summary 

The Tailor Made Violence Interrupter (VI) is a key position within the Urban Services YMCA program that supports youth as they transition into healthy adulthood. The role provides case management, mentorship, enrichment activities, referrals, and additional social services to youth and their families in San Francisco

The Violence Interrupter monitors students’ academic progress, attendance, and case plan goals, and advocates for needed services and resources. The position also connects students to community and city/county programs while maintaining detailed records of case notes, services delivered, and progress toward goals. The Violence Interrupter works with SFUSD middle and high school students before, during, and after school, supporting youth throughout the district.

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

The work environment is primarily based in schools and community settings, with a mix of office and fieldwork. The position requires frequent interaction with youth, families, and community members, and the ability to work in diverse, sometimes challenging environments. The role may involve occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Flexibility is required to adapt to various settings and situations, with occasional evening or weekend hours depending on program needs.
