POSITION SUMMARY

Child Watch Volunteer is part of a team which provides a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for all children ages 6 weeks to 10 years old. Volunteers will actively supervise and engage with all children in program. Volunteers are responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with families being served at the Stonestown Family YMCA. Volunteers must have a positive attitude and model appropriate behavior when dealing with children. Volunteers are required to be knowledgeable about YMCA programs for youth and families and promote programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Age: 18

Education: High School Diploma

Availability: PT (Weeknights and Weekends)

Related Experience: None

Licenses & Certifications: CPR/First Aid

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1.  Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  2. Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
  3. Demonstrate the Character Counts values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
  4. Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause Driven Leadership areas of mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness and personal growth.
  5. Support other staff with set up/cleanup of activities.
  6. Participate actively in all daily program activities.
  7. Maintain all time supervision of all children enrolled in the program.
  8. Communicate with colleagues and family members daily on all pertinent information including but not limited to child’s behaviors, incidents that occurred, requests made, etc.
  9. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
