Swim Coach – Presidio Y

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Aquatics leaders for the branch, the Swim Coach is responsible for producing high-quality training and implementing a swim program for the swimmers in our community. The Swim Coach will also be involved in all aspects of team development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Certified in USA Swimming Coach Level 1*
• Complete YMCA and USA swimming team registrations as required yearly.
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of technical aspects of swimming, including strokes, diving, turns, etc.
• Ability to teach group and private lessons as needed.
• Ability to effectively supervise and coach swimmers, both on deck and in the water.
• Must possess mature judgment and sound decision-making.
• Ability to maintain positive and effective relationships with staff, participants, and the public.
• Excellent customer service, adaptability, and problem-solving skills to ensure swim team member satisfaction and retention.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Background in competitive swimming, either as a coach or swimmer
• 2-3 years of coaching experience with various ages
• Y-USA or ASCA Certified
• Certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard*
