Position Summary

Power Scholars Academy (PSA) is a summer program focused on preventing learning loss and providing academic intervention. The program serves students across San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, helping them strengthen their academic foundation while also building social-emotional and critical thinking skills.

The PSA Enrichment Leader is responsible for facilitating activities that engage scholars through interactive, hands-on experiences. These activities complement classroom learning and emphasize the belief that all youth have extraordinary potential to succeed as scholars.

The program will run from June 9 to July 25, 2025, with specific dates varying by site. Training will begin on May 17, 2025, and will include sessions tailored to the program and individual training needs.

Job Responsibilities

Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with teachers to support student learning.
  • Assist in delivering lessons and activities aligned with the curriculum.
  • Plan and lead engaging and meaningful enrichment activities.
  • Track student progress and recommend adjustments as needed.

Classroom Management & Supervision

  • Help maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Supervise students during transitions, meals, recess, and activities.
  • Support students during field trips and special events.

Student Support & Development

  • Encourage academic and social growth.
  • Serve as a positive role model.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, community members, and families.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Assist with classroom routines and material distribution.

Qualifications 

  • Must be 18 years or older. 
  • Available Monday-Thursday, 12:00-6:00 pm; Fridays, 8:00 am-5:00 pm (shifts may vary). 
  • Proficient enrichment skills and comfortable leading physical activities with youth. 
  • TB test clearance within the last two years (required for programs on school district sites). 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Associate’s degree or 48 college units completed. 
  • Experience working with elementary or middle school-aged youth.   
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages. 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

PSA Enrichment Leaders work in dynamic classroom settings that may include both indoor and outdoor spaces, engaging in activities that require moderate physical activity, such as standing, walking, and interacting with students. The role requires the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, maintain a positive and engaging demeanor, and meet the physical demands of teaching and supervision, including handling classroom materials and technology.

Salary Description 

The Power Scholars Enrichment Leader position offers a compensation range of $19.50 – $22.00 per hour. This rate is based on salary benchmarking for similar roles and is aligned with grant fund approvals and requirements for the position.
