Position Summary 

The Dance Enrichment Specialist at the YMCA plays a vital role in inspiring creativity and fostering a love for the arts in participants of all ages. This full-time position is responsible for developing and leading engaging dance programs that promote self-expression, critical thinking, and personal growth. The specialist will create a welcoming, inclusive environment where participants feel encouraged to explore various artistic mediums and techniques, regardless of their skill level. 

By combining enthusiasm for the arts with strong organizational and teaching skills, the Dance Enrichment Specialist will design and implement programs that align with the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by nurturing creativity, building confidence, and strengthening community connections through the arts. The Dance Enrichment Specialist must be available to work Monday-Friday, including some evenings and weekends as needed.  

After School Program Dates

San Francisco Sites: August 11, 2025 – June 3, 2026

•Marin Sites: August 18, 2025 – June 13, 2026
Job Responsibilities  

Program Planning & Delivery 

•Design and implement engaging art programs and activities for participants of varying ages and skill levels.

•Incorporate diverse artistic mediums and techniques to promote creativity and self -expression.

•Regularly assess and update program content to maintain relevance and effectiveness.

•Ensure art programs align with the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Instruction & Participant Support 

•Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and guidance to help participants develop artistic skills.

•Offer constructive feedback to encourage growth and confidence.

•Create opportunities for participants to highlight their work through exhibitions, community events, or projects.

Supplies & Budget Management 

•Organize and maintain program supplies, ensuring materials are available, safe, and used efficiently.

•Manage program budgets effectively, if applicable.

Safety & Compliance 

•Ensure a safe environment by adhering to YMCA policies and best practices for program delivery.

•Monitor and address safety concerns during art activities.

Community Engagement & Relationship Building 

•Build positive relationships with participants, families, and community members to strengthen engagement in the arts.

Professional Development 

•Stay informed on current trends and best practices in dance education and enrichment.

•Participate in YMCA trainings and meetings as required.

Qualifications 

•High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in art, education, or a related field preferred.

•Previous experience in art instruction, enrichment programs, or a similar role is highly desirable.

•Proficiency in a variety of artistic techniques, mediums, and tools.

•Strong teaching and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire participants of all ages.

•Excellent organizational and time -management skills to plan and execute programs effectively.

•Knowledge of art program development and ability to adapt activities to diverse participant needs.

•Commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.

•Knowledge of or willingness to learn and adhere to YMCA policies and best practices for program delivery.

•CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified time.

•Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or other hours as needed to accommodate program schedules

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment for the Dance Enrichment Specialist is dynamic and collaborative, centered around creating an inspiring and inclusive space for artistic expression. The role typically operates in classrooms and community spaces. The atmosphere is vibrant and supportive, requiring adaptability to the needs of diverse participants. Regular interaction with children, te ens, and adults in both individual and group settings is a key component of the role. 

Physical demands:

•Frequently standing, walking, or moving around the workspace during art activities.

•Occasionally lifting and carrying supplies or equipment, such as art materials or display items, weighing up to 25 pounds.

•Engaging in activities that may require manual dexterity, such as handling art tools or setting up materials.

Salary Description  

The Art Enrichment Specialist position offers a competitive hourly rate of $25.00 to $33.00 Per Hour based on qualifications and experience.
