Peninsula YMCA is seeking a Site Coordinator for youth programs at Belle Air Elementary School – 450 Third Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Youth Program Director, the After School Program (ASP) Site Coordinator is responsible for daily onsite supervision, program implementation, and the development of youth and staff. The ASP Site Coordinator ensures a high level of program quality that will expose youth to various learning opportunities, working to establish a positive relationship with all program participants, their families, and members of the school administration. This position is responsible for helping maintain a safe and welcoming after school program site, including spending time in ratio working directly with youth as needed. They will create an academic and enrichment-based program that is compliant with the Youth Development Principles of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco.
After School Program Dates: August 19, 2024 – June 12, 2025
Job Responsibilities
Program Operations & Management
- Manage daily operations of the after-school program, including schedules, activities, and staff supervision.
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate academic, enrichment, and recreational activities.
- Maintain program spaces, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and accessibility for all participants.
- Track attendance and prepare timely program reports, including snack distribution and grant-specific documentation.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safety and supervision of children, maintaining a 20:1 child-to-staff ratio; step into ratio when needed.
- Uphold all YMCA, district, and grant program policies and requirements.
Staff Development & Supervision
- Train, supervise, and support after-school program staff, ensuring professional development aligns with program goals.
Program Quality & Improvement
- Monitor program quality using tools such as the ExCel Quality Action Plan (QAP); set and implement improvement strategies.
Family & Community Engagement
- Communicate with families to share student progress and address concerns promptly and professionally.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with school administrators, teachers, staff, families, and community partners.
Coordination & Alignment
- Coordinate with school leadership to align after-school activities with school-day learning goals.
Enrollment & Outreach
- Implement student outreach, registration, and enrollment strategies; ensure compliance with ELO-P requirements.
Fundraising Support
- Support YMCA fundraising efforts, including the YMCA’s Giving Campaign.
Qualifications
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- High School diploma/equivalent and any of the following:
- Completion of 48 college units.
- Passed CA Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST).
- Passed District Instructional Aide Exam.
- Availability Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week during program hours; occasional weekends as needed.
- 2+ years of experience working in youth programs.
- 6+ months of experience in a supervisory role.
- Clearance of TB test within the last 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree (Education or related field).
- Child Development Site Supervisor Permit (School-Age emphasis).
- Experience working in school environments, particularly local districts.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, or other languages.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The After School Program (ASP) Site Coordinator works in a dynamic, fast-paced environment at school and program sites, interacting with youth, families, and school staff in both indoor and outdoor settings. The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and engaging in physical activities, with occasional administrative duties requiring computer work. Coordinators may lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds, participate in recreational activities, and must respond quickly and safely to emergencies. The environment requires maintaining a clean, safe space while fostering collaboration with YMCA staff, school partners, and community members.

Salary Description
The hourly rate for this position is $24.00 – $28.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.
