Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Youth Program Director, the After School Program (ASP) Site Coordinator is responsible for daily onsite supervision, program implementation, and the development of youth and staff. The ASP Site Coordinator ensures a high level of program quality that will expose youth to various learning opportunities, working to establish a positive relationship with all program participants, their families, and members of the school administration. This position is responsible for helping maintain a safe and welcoming after school program site, including spending time in ratio working directly with youth as needed. They will create an academic and enrichment-based program that is compliant with the Youth Development Principles of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco.

Site Coordinator Responsibilities
- Program Development & Implementation
- Develop, implement, and participate in specialized and theme-based curriculum that meets the needs of each child, considering cultural, developmental, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Plan youth program activities with input from parents, participants, and staff to create high-quality After School programs.
- Ensure the delivery method, content, and facilitation align with child-safe protocols outlined by YMCA of San Francisco.
- Participant Supervision & Safety
- Promptly identify and respond to critical incidents and emergencies while monitoring participant activities and enforcing safety regulations in both virtual and in-person settings.
- Ensure all youth programs meet safety and security requirements as per YMCA of San Francisco guidelines.
- Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management as expected of After School program leaders.
- Leadership & Role Modeling
- Set a positive example for staff, children, and volunteers by demonstrating best practices as After School program leaders.
- Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
- Maintain necessary administrative records, including sign-in/sign-out logs, logbooks, emergency information, and policies and procedures.
- Follow guidelines outlined in the YMCA San Francisco Child Care Staff Manual.
- Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with staff, participants, parents, and volunteers.
- Professional Development & Training
- Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 21 years old
- Meet any one of following requirements:
- Child Development Site Supervisor Permit (from CCTC)
- Bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood education, 1 year of experience, plus 3 units in Supervisor Admin and 2 units in Adult Supervision
- Associate’s degree in child Dev. or Early Childhood Education, 2 years of experience, plus 3 units in Supervisor Admin and 2 units in Adult Supervision
- Coursework only and 4 years of experience; Must include 12 ECE core units (3 units each in Child/Adolescent or Psychological Development, Child/Family Studies, Curriculum, School-Aged Emphasis courses including Art, PE, Recreation; plus 6 units in ECE Supervisor Admin 1 & 2, 2 units in Adult Supervision
- Must be available Mondays-Fridays, 40 hours/week during program hours, some weekends
- 2+ years of experience working in a Child Care Center or youth program
- 6+ months of experience in a supervisory role
- Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (training available upon hire)
- Fingerprint background check clearance through Community Care Licensing
- TB Test clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in child development or related field
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages strongly preferred
- Knowledge of arts, dance, drama, or sports
- Connections in the local community, helpful for After School program leaders.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The After School Program (ASP) Site Coordinator works in a dynamic, fast-paced environment at school and program sites, interacting with youth, families, and school staff in both indoor and outdoor settings. The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and engaging in physical activities, with occasional administrative duties requiring computer work. Coordinators may lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds, participate in recreational activities, and must respond quickly and safely to emergencies. The environment requires maintaining a clean, safe space while fostering collaboration with YMCA staff, school partners, and community members.

Salary Description
The hourly rate for this position is $24.00 – $28.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.
