Letter from our Executive Director

YMCA Camp Jones Gulch has a deep history of providing formative summer Overnight Camp experiences for kids of all ages. We are proud of the Y’s tradition of creating safe spaces for kids to explore their sense of self while developing a meaningful connection to nature. Camp is a one-of-a-kind experience where kids can disconnect from typical routines and technologies, build resilience and self-confidence, and create lasting friendships.

After careful consideration and consultation with various authorities, including the American Camping Association, we have made the hard decision not to operate Overnight Camps for the summer of 2020. This is the first summer in Camp Jones Gulch history that we have had to close, but the safety of our community is our top priority. We look forward to welcoming you to Overnight Camp in the beautiful redwoods again next year.

The YMCA of San Francisco is focusing our efforts on creating alternative opportunities to ensure you are supported in keeping your family active and engaged this summer, possibly in the form of virtual enrichment experiences or modified, small-group day camp. Please visit ymcasf.org to explore the many resources already available to you, and please keep an eye out for future communications as our plans develop.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the Y continues to provide critical services for our community. If your family is in a position to help support financial assistance for summer programs, we ask that you consider making a tax-deductible donation so all families can access critical Y programs – they are needed now more than ever.

Thank you for your understanding and your continued support of Camp Jones Gulch.
