Competitive Swim Team
YMCA Pacific Aquatic Club (YPAC) Swim Team (6-18 years)
YPAC is a year-round swim team that focuses on youth development and competitive swimming. Once a month participants compete in USA Swimming official meets involving teams from the Bay Area and surrounding counties. Participants learn and refine such things as stroke technique, endurance and speed.
Anyone looking to join YPAC and set up a required Swim Team assessment needs to contact the Head Coach, Guy Concepcion.
Yellow Lane (ages 6-8):
Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 5:00pm - 5:30pm or 5:30pm - 6:00pm
Yellow Lane is the entry-point to the swim team for youth ages 6-8. All participants must be able to swim all four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle). The focus of each 30-minute session is to focus on stroke technique and to build endurance, with the intention of joining meets within the first-year of continuous training.
Green Lane A (ages 7-10):
Monday/Wednesdays/Fridays: 4:00pm- 4:45pm
Swimming skill levels for the Green Lane are a bit more advanced, while still focusing on improving stroke technique and endurance. More race-specific training is added (like starts/turns, intervals) and joining swim meets is further encouraged.
Green Lane B (ages 7-10):
Red Lane (ages 9-12):
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 4:00pm - 5:00pm
Tuesday, Thursday: 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Red Lane training is more challenging, with speed, endurance, and race-strategies (while always focusing on technique) being the main focus each practice session.
Blue Lane (Middle School):
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 4:45pm - 6:00pm
Tuesday, Thursday: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am - 9:00am
Blue Lane are the middle-school age-range competitive swimmers, who are now beginning to focus on swimming as their main sport. Training now has a dryland component, and more hours in the pool are added to further build power and endurance, while still focusing on stroke technique.
Black Lane (High School):
Monday: 4:00pm - 5:00pm (Dryland)
Monday: 5:00pm - 6:00pm (Team Meeting)
Monday: 6:00pm - 7:00pm (Swim)
Tuesday/Thursday: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Wednesday: 5:00pm - 6:00pm (Dryland)
Wednesday: 6:00pm - 7:00pm (Swim)
Friday: 4:00pm - 5:00pm (Dryland)
Friday: 5:00pm - 7:00pm (Swim)
Saturday: 7:00am - 9:00am
This high school age-range competitive swimming group continues to build on the previous lanes they graduated from. Participants are even more focused on high-caliber swim performances at season-end championships and keeping sight of becoming college-varsity swimmers (in various college leagues) when the time comes. Overall, becoming healthy, fit, and confident adults who are lifelong swimmers become the ultimate goal.

Rec Swim Team
First Mates Swim Team (8-12 or 13+ years)
The First Mates Pre-Swim Team is a non-competitive swim group where youth learn the basics of what a swim team does in a more relaxed environment. Through the program, participants work on skills such as diving, endurance, and efficient stroke technique without competition. This Swim Team is great for those who want a once a week 1-hr swim workout without thinking about training for competition. All four competitive strokes must already be part of your regiment and swimmers must be able to handle an hour-long swim practice. Contact: Guy Concepcion: firstname.lastname@example.org.
