HARVEY MILK PROGRAMS OFFERED HERE
BEFORE- AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMING
The program's curriculum is designed to expose kids to a wide variety of activities, improve critical thinking skills, develop leadership, build character and confidence, and to improve overall health and wellness.
Activities include: homework help and tutoring, team sports, nutrition and cooking classes, arts, academic enrichment and more!
IMPORTANT DATES AND INFORMATION TO ENSURE A SMOOTH START
First day of program: Monday, August 21, 2017, 7:30am-9:15am and/or 3:30pm-6:30pm
School day staff will be notified about your student’s enrollment in both the YMCA’s Before- and/or After-School Program enrollment. If you are enrolling in either program, all participants must have a completed application and wavier in order to be admitted. There are new fees afflicted with both programs; please see below for more information.
An application fee will be charged for all families interested in the programming; $100 per child and application for the After-school program only. The before-school program is a flat fee for the entire year. Application fees are due at the time of registration. Once registered, you will find out within two weeks of submitting your application what your monthly dues will be or if you qualify for the free program. Once you receive your monthly co-pay fee, you will have the 10 days to make your first payment or decline the spot. We do offer financial aid on the all registration fees, however, this cannot be applied for online.
The before-school program is a flat rate of $550 dollars for the school year.
The after-school program is based on a sliding scale of $50-$500 dollars a month. Please see our monthly dues section for after school program specifically in order to learn more information.
Please review the following information on monthly co-payments. A family that is not eligible for a free/reduced lunch will pay a co-payment fee on a sliding scale from $50-$500/month. Families not eligible for free/reduced lunch will be required to complete the Embarcadero’s YMCA Financial Aid Application to determine monthly co-payment cost. You may download a Financial Aid Application or you may pick one up from the Embarcadero YMCA.
The monthly co-payment fee will be waived for a family that is eligible for free/reduced lunch. Free/reduced lunch families will only be responsible for a per student application fee of $100. The monthly co-payment fee will be waived for a family for a child in the program who is a homeless youth or for a child who is in foster care.

How can I get my free or reduced lunch eligibility documentation?
Provide Notification of Eligibility Letter:
The fastest and easiest way to complete the SFUSD Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF) is to create an account online at SchoolCafé.com and complete the Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF).
- The MFIF can be submitted anytime during the school year. A family’s free or reduced lunch eligibility will be determined within five-seven business days. You will be sent an email with your eligibility status for free or reduced lunch.
- Once you have received an email notification, you can print your eligibility letter by logging into your account at SchoolCafé.com.
Do I qualify for a free or reduced lunch?
If your total household income from ALL sources is less than the amount in the table below for your household size, you may qualify for free or reduced lunch. However, you must complete the MFIF form at SchoolCafé.com to determine your eligibility.
We now offer two ways to register—online or paper application. To register online, please click on the registration button of the program of your choosing.
Please note: if you are free/reduced lunch you will need to provide a Notification of Eligibility Letter. No families will be turned away because of inability to pay or other personal concerns. Please see additional documents for list of requirements.
After completing a paper application, you may:
- Submit it to your school's Site Coordinator starting Monday, August 21, 2017, during the hours of 9:00am-6:00pm or to your school secretary.
- Drop-off it off at the Mission YMCA located at 4080 Mission Street, SF 94112, between the hours of 7:00am-6:30pm, Monday-Friday.
