Race Information

For our 8th annual race this year, we will be shifting to a virtual format to adapt to the new normal of Shelter In Place.  Participating in the race this year will not only show your support for the Richmond District YMCA but you will also join a community of runners, joggers and walkers working toward the finish line together.

Register online, run or walk a 5k course on your own (the official race course or one of your own making!), and then report your results via our club on Strava

Race Course

The official Jog in the Fog race begins in Mt. Lake Park and finishes out at Lands End in the USS San Francisco Memorial Parking Lot. The course is 3.4 miles in length, and is mostly flat terrain but there are some hills and stairs in the Lands End portion of the course.

Proceeds from the Richmond District Jog in the Fog 5k will go to the Richmond District YMCA.

During shelter in Place the YMCA of San Francisco had to quickly shift its operations to meet the challenges presented by our current pandemic. Over the past four months, the YMCA has shifted their focus to providing these essential services:

  • Provide more than 125 families with child care, so that families of essential workers continue to have safe spaces for their children to learn and grow.

  • Serve more than 6,969 households at food pantries each week, so that seniors, families and any individual struggling with food insecurity have one less thing to worry about when they receive a bag of groceries and supplies at one of the YMCA Food Pantry locations.

  • Engage more than 478 active older adults through senior programs, so that seniors across the region have someone to talk to who can ensure they have the groceries, supplies and connection that can be hard to find in our current landscape.

  • Teach more than 1,893 youth through online education programs, so that the Education Gap is closing as youth engage virtually through YMCA Summer Learning Loss Prevention curriculum and online enrichment experiences.

  • Instruct more than 4,756 YMCA members through weekly online wellness classes, so that everyone in the YMCA community can establish healthy living routines at home through the support of YMCA Virtual Group Exercise classes and other online resources
