About the Job
Supporting the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, it is the objective of the Treasure Island Community YMCA to support healthy lifestyles by reaching out and engaging all those who seek well-being of spirit, mind and body. Under the supervision of the Director of the Treasure Island Community YMCA, the Wellness Leader is responsible for all health and wellness programs and services at the Treasure Island Community YMCA. Health and wellness programs and services include, but are not limited to: member engagement initiatives, group exercise, health education, fitness center floors and partnerships with healthcare organizations in the service area.
Wellness Leaders are responsible for building relationships, providing tips for a happy and healthy life style and establishing harmonious relationships with the Treasure Island Community. Wellness Leaders must demonstrate the ability to coach program participants by providing leadership, instruction and motivation for members in creating and sustaining a healthy lifestyle for themselves and their community.
- Minimum 18 years of age
- College quarter/semester credits in a field related to health and wellness. 1-2 year of experience working and/or volunteering within the realm of health and wellness.
- Must be available week days and weekends. This is a part-time position ranging between 20-29 hours a week. Hours are based on availability and needs of the program.
- Experience working in a fitness environment\
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Willingness to be CPR/AED & First Aid trained and all other course related to this field of work provided by the YMCA of San Francisco
