About the Job

Under the supervision of the Summer Program Director, the Unit Director is responsible for all aspects of the supervision and operation of a day camp unit.  Applicant must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Age: Minimum of 21 years of age required.
  • Education: Possess college quarter/semester credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or the equivalent background in courses in arts, recreation, social work, or psychology.
  • Availability: Bi-weekly day/evening meetings leading up to the beginning of summer program, some weekend trainings, and all weeks between June to August 2020.
  • Related Experience: At least two years’ experience working with children in an organized setting.
  • One year of staff and volunteer supervision experience preferred
  • Licenses & Certifications: Current CPR and 1st Aid Certification. Current TB test by Manitou method. YMCA Child Abuse trainings (8 hours) or willingness to obtain. YMCA Certification as required by branch.


  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese
