About the Job
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, swim instructors provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Swim Instructors must be able to relate to students, parents, members and guests in a positive manner, to communicate the Y’s Aquatic Program philosophy and to exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making.
- Minimum 16 years old.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Current YMCA approved first aid and CPR certification *
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent certification/background experience.*
- Personal aquatic background preferred.
- Previous experience as a swim lesson instructor preferred.
- Must be flexible with a schedule that may include afternoons and weekends
*Within 90 days of employment or at first available training.
