Position Summary

The Revenue Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of cash and revenue transactions to the general ledger and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and supervise and train the Cash Accountant and Grants Staff Accountant.  This position has a significant impact on operational effectiveness, in direct support of branches of the YMCA of San Francisco. With the responsibilities as outlined, the revenue process will be effective and efficient which will ensure that all revenue and receivables are accurately recorded and payments are received on a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proof of COVID Vaccination is Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 4 years of not-for-profit cash, revenue, and grants experience
  • Relevant experience in supervising staff of 2 or more
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and Single Audits
  • Familiarity with accounting programs and software, advanced Excel knowledge; experience and knowledge of NetSuite a plus
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Organization and prioritization skills with great attention to detail, accuracy
  • Trustworthy with strong work ethic
  • Ability to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues
  • Must be able to work normal business hours including additional hours required during month-end, audit, and year-end periods
  • Work well under pressure
  • Thrive in work environment that is deadline sensitive
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds

Essential Functions

Grant Management:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of and provide guidance and assistance to branch team members in the interpretation of grant agreements, federal grant circulars including Uniform Guidance, GAAP and policies and procedures
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing grantors, government agencies and external auditors
  • Work closely with branches and other departments to understand the nature of funding or revenue sources to ensure all documentation complies with applicable Federal, State and other related regulations, statutes, General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance to the branches and other departments on grants and contracts revenue and expense reporting and reconciliation
  • Oversee and responsible for the completion of the Single Audits
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures associated with the application, acquisition and administration of grants and contracts

Cash & Revenue Accounting:

  • Review and ensure cash, revenue and related transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Oversee cash application and grant revenue activities with day-to-day supervision and monitoring of productivity
  • Manage and monitor daily cash, grant revenue, receivables, and processing
  • Reconcile cash, investments, and debt account balances on a monthly basis
  • Reconcile accounts by resolving account discrepancies to meet established deadlines
  • Respond to requests for information and other regulatory requirements of multiple agencies, organizations and external auditors in a timely manner
  • Prepare accounting transactions and documents including reports for management
  • Oversee the completion of the delegated tasks required to complete month end and year end closing including cut-off procedures, account reconciliations, roll forwards and journal entries
  • Build and maintain a working relationship with branches to ensure communication regarding revenue is consistent, complete and informative
  • Supervise and train Cash Accountant and Grants Staff Accountant, assign workloads and monitor job results
  • Participate in and provide significant and necessary support for the annual audits, ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, State and other related regulations, statutes, General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and policies and procedures
  • Maintain and protect operations by keeping information confidential
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education where appropriate
  • Contribute to team effort by working with other staff member to ensure the accurate and timely completion of critical tasks.
  • Complete all mandatory Talent LMS safety training and Y-USA e-Learning before the first shift in the facility
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor
