About the Job
The Peninsula Family YMCA is looking for an instructor to lead a variety of styles of group exercise class programming. Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Director, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading safe and effective exercise classes and workshops when necessary. She will be responsible for maintaining the highest levels of customer service and professionalism while delivering safe, effective health & fitness group exercise programs to members and guests. She will adhere to any and all guidelines of the Group Exercise Department
Group Exercise experience background and appropriate certification is mandatory. Experience working with diverse age groups is desired. The ideal candidate will be motivated, energetic, have a strong professional background in teaching to a wide range of ages. Proficiency in multiple areas is desired. Position is part-time. Instructors must have reliable transportation. Prefer someone that will be with us long term and grow into the position as we continue to expand our group exercise programming.
Age: 18 years of age
Related Experience: Friendly, outgoing, adaptable with good listening and communication skills are a must!
Specialized Skills: At least one (1) year of teaching experience preferred
Licenses & Certifications: Group Exercise Certification in AFAA/ACE or a Personal Training Certification in ACSM, ACE, AFAA, Cooper Institute, NASM, Current YMCA CPR Certification*, Current YMCA First Aid Certification* & Child Abuse Prevention Training*
* Within 90 days of employment or at first available training
Education: Bachelor’s in Exercise Science or related field preferred
