About the Job

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction and supervision of the Community Programs Director, and the established policies, goals and objectives of the YMCA of San Francisco, the Program Leader supervises and guides a teen’s development in a safe and healthy environment.  Staff schedules are set at the time of employment but are subject to change based on the needs of the program..

Minimum Qualifications

  • Age 21 years or older
  • At Least 2 year of college (48 units) or AA degree
  • Must have experience working with youth (Middle School or Elementary School)
  • Must be highly motivated to provide quality leadership development programming opportunities to youth
  • Must be a Team Player
  • Knowledge or expertise in youth development
  • Must be comfortable leading physical activities with youth
  • Ability to assist in school day and homework support for middle school teenagers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with participant parent/guardians, peers, and supervisors
  • Familiarity in training and facilitation of older youth and peers in subject areas, but not limited to: Social Emotional Learning, College Preparedness, resume writing, interview skills   
  • Must be available Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00am-2:30pm and Fridays from 2:00pm - 5:30pm
  • Current CPR and 1st Aid certification
  • California’s Food Handlers certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Knowledge of Zoom and other online interaction platforms
