About the Job

Must have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, Maintains and repairs related buildings, grounds and equipment as needed.  Completes maintenance and improvement of properties, facilities, including preventative maintenance plans. Ordering maintenance supplies, material for safety, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment. Provide safe and clean YMCA buildings for staff and members. This position reports to Facilities Manager and District Facilities Director and is an essential maintenance staff member of the association shared resource facilities department.  Must have communication skills to insure staff and members get immediate help related to repairs and assuring maintenance and custodial staff are doing the work to provide a safe, clean and well-maintained buildings and grounds. Chemical & Mechanical operation and trouble-shooting of a pool and also responding to safety and emergency situations. This is a hands-on position with full working knowledge that demonstrates abilities to perform outstanding mechanical and preventive maintenance work.  The job tasks are required in all areas of general building and grounds maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

Related Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience in building & grounds maintenance of infrastructure and facilities equipment.  Understands basic plumbing, electrical repairs.  Working knowledge with buildings and grounds life safety systems and mechanical systems, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry and other maintenance-related areas. Fitness Equipment maintenance and repairs. This position may require training and hands on up-keep of all fitness equipment.

Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication in English required.

Specialized Skills: Familiarity with personal computers helpful to access e-mails and work order system.

Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver’s license and vehicle. 

Pool, boiler, CPR and first aid certifications required and if not at hire will need to attend and complete the trainings. CPO certification is a mandatory requirement of this position. YMCA will train and must complete certification course within first 6 months of hire.
