About the Job
Under the direction of the Senior Health and Wellness Director, the Group Exercise Instructors will provide dynamic, safe and fun classes to Bayview Hunters Point YMCA (YMCA) members for the following formats:
Dance Instructor (Youth and Seniors)
Cycling Instructor (AM/PM/Weekdays/Weekends)
Cycle/Boot camp Instructor (AM/PM/Weekdays/Weekends)
Cultural Dance Instructor (PM/Weekends)
Chicago Stepping/Line Dance Instructor (AM/PM/Weekdays/Weekends)
The Group Exercise Instructor must maintain high levels of customer service and professionalism while demonstrating YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to all participants, members, volunteers and staff. They must also provide modifications for all fitness levels while caring for the participant’s wellbeing.
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Minimum of 1 year teaching in group exercise formats
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid within 30 days of hire
- Experience and certification in Group Exercise class instruction (e.g. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, Zumba®, Zumba Gold®, Schwinn®, etc.)
