About the Job

The Family Engagement Coordinator at Starr King Elementary School will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all family engagement initiatives within the Starr King Elementary School community and Potrero Hill neighborhood. This role will include helping to develop successful family and school partnerships; being a coach/liaison on implementing effective family strategies to boost student achievement and empowering families; work closely with the school day and after school leadership teams; organizing special events to increase family and school community relationships; resource gatherer for community programs and resources for families.  

The Family Engagement Coordinator is also responsible for monthly newsletters, mission moments, supporting and communicating youth behavior. A primary focus throughout the year for the Family Engagement Coordinator will be to recruit and retain families in afterschool activities. During after school programming, the Family Engagement Coordinator will be a program leader for a class, leading enrichments, academic tutoring and outside activities while promoting health and wellness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • 2 years college/Assoc Degree  or passing score on NCLB exam 
  • Bachelor’s degree with teaching credential preferred. 
  • Must be available Mondays-Fridays 10AM-6:30PM (some weekends and evenings).
  • Experience working with Elementary School students
  • Experience with restorative practices required 
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or Mandarin
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification, finger print and TB test clearance
