POSITION SUMMARY
Bayview Hunters Point YMCA is seeking Credential Teacher Specialist for programs at:
- KIPP Bayview Elementary School - 948 Hollister Ave, San Francisco, 94124
- MLK Jr Middle School Beacon - 350 Girard St, San Francisco, CA 94134
YMCA After School Credential Teacher Specialist provides meaningful and enriching opportunities for youth in YMCA programs. The Specialist will help students develop and strengthen academic and social skills by providing assistance, tutoring, and mentorship in the PACE After School Program. The Specialist will provide academic enrichment and tutoring in classroom groups of up to 20 students via small group and individual supports. Individuals hired for this position will work under the supervision of the Program Site Coordinators and Directors, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year.
Salary range: $30-$40/hour
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 23 years of age
- Must hold valid teaching credential
- Must have experience working with high school youth
- Must be highly motivated to provide quality program opportunities to youth
- Must be a team player
- Knowledge or expertise in youth development
- Must be comfortable leading physical activities with youth
- Must be available daily Monday-Friday during youth program hours; varies 2:00-6:00 pm
- Must be willing to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as needed
- Current YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (may complete upon hire)
- Fingerprint background check clearance
- TB Test clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages strongly preferred
- Knowledge of high school level Math, Science, English and/ or History
- Connections in the local Bayview or San Francisco community
